Community Outreach in Action - We want to Visit Your School!

The Housing Construction Council is connecting with schools across Nova Scotia to inspire the next generation of builders. Our team can deliver classroom presentations or participate in career fairs to share information about career pathways, skills training, and opportunities in the construction industry. Invite us to your school today!

The last two months of our community outreach included meaningful engagement with students across the South Shore and Annapolis Valley regions. In January, we visited Forest Heights Community School, New Germany Rural High School, Liverpool Regional School, and Park View Education Centre, connecting with Options and Opportunities (O2) and Construction Trades classes. We spoke about Nova Scotia’s housing crisis, the growing demand for skilled trades professionals, and the clear, achievable pathways into housing construction careers.

In February, we continued the conversation at a Nova Scotia Works career exploration fair at Middleton High School. Students explored labour market opportunities and learned more about training and employment options within the housing sector. It was encouraging to see so many young people already thinking about their futures in the skilled trades. We’re proud to keep building these connections between industry and the next generation of workers.
