Our Commitment to Safety
At Wolverine Pipe Line Company (Wolverine), the health and public safety of our employees, stakeholders, and consumers is our first priority. Amid the continued concerns surrounding COVID-19, Wolverine continues to take the necessary steps to prevent the spread of the virus, as well as create a work environment that is as safe as possible. We are doing this while also recognizing that, as a critical infrastructure industry, we have a special responsibility to provide necessary services to protect the public.

Wolverine is responsible for the transportation of gasoline and diesel fuel throughout the states of Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan. This includes maintaining the pipeline, excavating as necessary, and monitoring the pipeline system through our operations control center. We have not experienced or expect there to be changes or delays in our business operations.

We take our job seriously and like many other companies, Wolverine Pipe Line Company is taking guidance from the CDC to ensure we are doing our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

This includes the following actions:

  • Pre-Screen: Measure employee temperature and assess symptoms prior to start of work
  • Regular Monitoring: Employees complete “Are You Sick?” questionnaires upon arriving to work, self-monitor for symptoms, and report concerns to supervisors
  • Wear a Mask: Employees wear face masks when unable to maintain a proper social distance of 6ft outdoors and in enclosed spaces
  • Social Distance: Employees maintain 6 feet and practice social distancing as work duties permit in the workplace.
  • Work from Home: Wolverine implemented a work from home policy for those who can perform work remotely.
  • Disinfect and Clean Work Spaces: Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting in all common areas

We encourage everyone to join us in taking the necessary steps to protect themselves, their families, and their neighbors.
Wolverine's Utility Station Operator, David Brooks, Receives Campaign Chair of the Year Award from United Way of Southwest Michigan
Niles, MI - David Brooks, Utility Station Operator at Wolverine Pipe Line Company (Wolverine), has been recognized by United Way of Southwest Michigan (UWSM) as the 2019 Employee Campaign Chairman of the Year in the small business category.

The award was given in a "distanced" celebration after the event was postponed in March due to the ongoing coronavirus crisis. Recipients, including David, were delivered "Celebration 2.0" boxes by UWSM employees to include the award, goodies and success stories that would have premiered at the event.

"This award goes to someone who is an inspiring leader. Every year, he leads his team on a project partnering with Berrien County Cancer Service for a Day of Caring. He and his team assist a local cancer patient by taking on a project they need done at their home. From repair work to landscaping to installing a bathroom, his team has done it all! His passion for giving back is not only evident in the way he runs the United Way campaign, but also in how he lives his daily life," stated United Way in the success story issued with the award, "He has even been known to provide lunches to the less fortunate in his spare time. This passion for community reflects in the success of his campaign. In 2019 the campaign saw a 17% increase in giving, and the company also achieved 100% participation."

When asked to speak on the award, David wrote, "At moments in life we experience a great inward boost. My receiving the Campaign Chairman of the Year for a Small Business is one of those moments. If this glass award would have been formed by pieces, I would take a piece of the award and give it to many people: each member of the Niles team (for their giving to UW and making the Day of Caring successful); Saul Flota and Matt Dunne (for supporting me in my UW role), and the Board of Directors (for their matching gift to UW). I am proud to work for Wolverine where we have fuel running through our pipeline, and love running through our hearts.

"He lives every second of his life with passion and care for others, and is an excellent example of the good that exists in this world through acts of kindness and compassion," said Wolverine's Niles Area Supervisor, Efrain Lazaro. "Wolverine Pipe Line is proud to have him among our ranks."

On behalf of Wolverine Pipe Line Company, thank you for your exemplary compassion, hard work, and commitment to our community.

Congratulations, David!
