COMMUNITY NOTICE:

WEATHER CONDITIONS

July 31, 2025

NYC is preparing for potential heavy rain fall beginning at around 2pm 7/31, through 2pm Friday, 8/1.

The National Weather Service and NYC Emergency Management have issued a flood watch with potential for heavy rain of 1.5 to 3 inches that may cause flooding on highways, streets, underpasses, as well as other poor drainage or low-lying spots.

DEP is monitoring the situation, and our crews are preemptively cleaning and clearing catch basins to ensure stormwater can flow into the sewer system.

Please help us get the word out and remind your constituents of the following storm preparation:

  • Sign up for real time emergency alerts with NotifyNYC
  • Report street flooding or clogged catch basins to 311 & then contact the Community Board with the 311 Complaint Number
  • Call 911 for life-threatening emergencies
  • If you are in a basement, prepare to move to a higher floor during periods of heavy rain
  • Do not drive your vehicle or walk into areas where water covers the roadway as the water depth may be too great to allow you to cross safely
  • If you lose power and have a disability, access and functional needs, or use life-sustaining equipment and need immediate assistance, dial 911
