Community Resource Sharing Newsletter

Community Service Directory Revamped

What’s better than resources? A place where all the resources are organized and easily accessible! Columbus Area United Way has revamped their community service directory,

compiling services in the Columbus area. Lots of hard work was put into this project in hopes that the community would access this resource for themselves and their clients. The directory is available at columbusunitedway.com/community-service-directory in both English and Spanish. There is also a version that you can print and download for your convenience.

Happy connecting!

Increased Mental Health Supports

Hopeful Horizons is a nonprofit organization that is new to our communities (have you seen our purple and teal signs in yards that say, ‘You Are Not Alone’ and ‘Don’t Give Up?’). Our mission is

creating, coordinating, and championing hopeful tomorrows. Our purpose is to be the lead and first point of contact for suicide awareness, prevention and mental health improvement efforts in our communities. Think of Hopeful Horizons as the umbrella……there are several organizations, groups, entities and efforts supporting mental health, suicide awareness and prevention. Often it can be confusing for someone facing a mental health challenge or crisis; where to start or feeling frustration when they cannot find the help they need to match their situation.

The goal of Hopeful Horizons is to be the organization that people call first. People are able to share what they are experiencing, and we can help direct that person(s) to agencies or organizations that would appear a good fit. There’s more! Hopeful Horizons is working to bring more awareness, training and events to our communities to help increase awareness and decrease the stigma of utilizing resources around mental health. We have a board that oversees Hopeful Horizons and we have monthly community meetings. There are ways for everyone to be involved and we need people like you to make a commitment to learning and helping be part of the change. Monthly meetings are on the 4th Monday of each month at 6pm at the Columbus Library, 2nd floor.
