Collaborative Meeting – Focused on You!

Community & Family Partnership recently sent a survey to uncover ideas for the next in-person collaborative meeting to be held at the Community Building in Columbus on October 1 st from 8:30-11:30 AM.

The goal of the survey? To find out what you want to learn more about, and which conversations matter most right now. With so much change happening in our work, what topics could bring clarity, ease uncertainty, or provide answers to the questions on your mind?

Your feedback will help the Steering Committee shape the discussion for this meeting. After all, these gatherings aren’t about us—they’re about you.

We look forward to connecting, sharing insights, and navigating today’s challenges together. See you on October 1st for meaningful conversation and networking!

Cheryl Dozer,

RIR Coordinator

We had our first Collaboration Meeting in August for the new grant year. Lynn Vollbracht presented Pyramid 1A Booster, Essential Positive Messages. Great reminder of the power of positive praise and doing that in detail description, so the child knows exactly what they did that was good and why it was so good. This helps children to understand what good behavior and

listening looks like and they can strive to do this, knowing they are making good choices in life and being seen for doing it. Game changer to focus on the good things and NOT give attention to the unacceptable behavior.

This is the basis of our Pyramid Training where we spend time developing those relationships and seeing the good in all children. Always good to be reminded and share with others how you are doing this. Our discussion and energy were off the walls with this booster training. We have excited, well-trained professionals in our Rooted group who are so pumped about what they do for their work. Making a difference in children’s lives day after day, year after year.

Kate Wythers,

Community Prevention Director

The Community Prevention team has participated in training to become facilitators for Bridges Out of Poverty. Bridges Out of Poverty is a framework that is utilized to help

community partners, like churches, schools, businesses, and social service organizations address poverty in a comprehensive way. Community Prevention is holding quarterly workshops to present Bridges Out of Poverty in our four-county area. This workshop is designed to equip participants with a deeper understanding of poverty and what it is like for those facing it.

If your business, organization, or agency works with people that are experiencing poverty, the workshop will provide a deeper understanding of the challenges and the strengths people in poverty experience. Bridges Out of Poverty champions alliances of support and helps individuals and communities that are ready to break free of poverty.

The next workshop for Bridges Out of Poverty is scheduled for September 25, 2025, from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Columbus Area United Way.
