Rooted in Relationships hosted a Saturday Providers Day Out on June 14th at Artzy Haven! We had 20 providers that came and made a door hanger of their choice and networked and socialized with other providers in the community. Our Rooted providers gave testimonials on Rooted throughout the morning and we enjoyed bagels and coffee together as we worked.

We have seventeen new providers joining our Cohort 3, which will be an Introduction Year of attending both Circle of Security in the Classroom and CHIME. All providers have been assigned a coach who will build a relationship with them this Introduction Year and help them implement what they are learning in these two classes in their programs and personal lives.

We have two new coaches joining our team, one is a Cohort 1 provider and the other is a Cohort 2 provider. We are excited about the skills and insight these two new coaches will bring us and are so proud of the commitment to stay involved in Rooted.

Building Connections Dinner Makes an Impact

“Eye-Opening”, “Very Informative”, “Having enough, quality childcare is a crucial element for a healthy community to recruit and retain high quality workers.” These were some of the key takeaways and comments made by attendees at the Building Connections dinner hosted by Strong Starts Schuyler on June 19th.

The keynote speaker of the evening was Schuyler High School Alumnus, Russell Herrera. Russell is married to Monica Arroyo, also a SCHS graduate. They are the parents of three young children and reside in Omaha. Russell is a United States Marine Corps Combat Veteran.  Serving 2 tours to Afghanistan (09 and 11) in a Scout Sniper team, trained in Communications and as Shooter/Observer. Currently, Russell and Monica work for the Center for Immigrant and Refugee Advancement.

The most powerful moment of his speech came when he drew a striking parallel between his military service and caring for our youngest community members. He spoke of a core value every soldier holds: “no sniper left behind.” More than a phrase, it was a sacred promise—no one abandoned, no matter the terrain or the battle.

With quiet intensity, he challenged us to embrace that same promise for our children: no child overlooked, no child left without the care and opportunities they need to thrive. Just as soldiers depend on one another for survival, he reminded us, children depend on us—their families, neighbors, teachers, and leaders—to surround them with steadfast love and protection. His words carried a weight that called each of us to action.

6 Regions, One Nebraska

According to opportunity.nebraska.gov, in 2024, the 6 Regions, One Nebraska initiative was created to allow separate regions in Nebraska to make focused, data-driven decisions and to select a project they feel will positively impact the future of their local community. Each of the six regions received an initial financial investment, matched by private dollars, to establish a team in their region will receive financial incentive for initial regional projects in Resident Recruitment, Youth Engagement, Entrepreneurship, Technology, Infrastructure or a selected regional project.

Our region has decided to focus their project on increasing the number of child care professionals in our area. Equitable Early Childcare and Education is a current priority area of Community and Family Partnership, and we are eager to explore what this means for our local counties. Right now, a $2,500 stipend is being offered for those who wish to become an in-home child care professional. Becoming a child care professional gives you the ability to work from home in an industry that is always needed. There are experienced mentors available to help and grant funding available. Child care professionals are the workforce behind the workforce and are vital for our communities and economy to thrive.
