Dear Neighbor,

Thank you for joining us for another week in review.

Be sure to join us tonight for an evening of dancing, music, food, and community during our Puerto Rican Heritage Month Celebration at Monroe College from 5:30 PM - 9:00 PM.

Also, tune in to our virtual Naloxone Training at 6 PM. The virtual training will cover steps for responding to an opioid overdose with naloxone and will outline options for accessing an Overdose Response Kit in person or by mail. Click here to register.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office at 718-590-3500 or email us at webmail@bronxbp.nyc.gov.

IN THE COMMUNITY

Today, I joined the Bronx Economic Development Corporation to announce Bronx Community College as the winner of the inaugural Bronx Green Action Challenge, a first-of-its-kind environmental sustainability challenge.

BCC will receive a $1 million award, funded by the New York Power Authority, to develop and implement a plan to improve campus sustainability and reduce the institution's environmental footprint. Part of the funding will also be used to launch a new green jobs training program.

We are so excited to see all that Bronx Community College will accomplish. Thank you to BXEDC for developing this great initiative and NYPA for their commitment to a greener, cleaner Bronx.

It was a wonderful Celebration of the Festival of Lights at the Vishnu Mandir Temple with the Bharati Foundation, elected officials, community partners, and leaders.

Congratulations to our honorees recognized for their exceptional work. Thanks to Mayor Adams and Assembly Member Jenifer Rajkumar for hosting a 5-Borough Diwali Celebration to recognize Diwali as an official school holiday in our NYC public schools.
