Community Security Update – No Known Active Local Threats

This afternoon outside of Detroit, Michigan, there was a security incident at Temple Israel. Our hearts are with the Jewish community in Detroit. Details are still emerging from this incident. Secure Community Network (SCN) has provided a situation report.

Here locally, the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston (JFGH) and SCN have been in contact with the Houston Police Department (HPD). HPD is increasing patrols around synagogues and other Jewish facilities. At this time, we do not have any reports of local threats to our facilities. 

Jewish institutions – including the Jewish Federation of Detroit – and other organizations in that area were on lockdown after the incident; however, there are no local lockdowns.

It is critical to utilize the SCN  Incident Reporting Form  to report any antisemitic incidents you know of. Filling out this form allows us to coordinate a response with local law enforcement and Secure Community Network, the official security organization of the Jewish community in North America.
