The Community Service Chaplain (CSC) arm of the COG Chaplains Commission offers training courses designed to equip, empower, and entrust passionate volunteers to serve in their own community. CSC training equips individuals with an understanding of key issues, concepts, and skills promoting personal growth, family care, and church outreach. The training includes such topics as serving in a pluralistic context, prayer in the public forum, ministry of presence, crisis, stress, ethics and confidentiality, moral injury, death notification, grief, and a host of other subjects relevant to community ministry.

Susan, a participant in the June 2022 class shared, “I have highly misunderstood the role of a chaplain. Taking this course has helped me realize what a chaplain does and represents. Chaplains are much needed in this world and I am excited about becoming one. Your major qualification is to love people and care about them.”

Sharon, another participant wrote, “I have served in many departments in the church I attend, but I have always wanted to go beyond the four walls. When my Bishop asked me to take the Community Service Chaplaincy training I was happy to do it. The three-day training was an eye-opening experience. I learned so much. I learned I don’t have to stay inside the four walls of the church to reach people. I learned that being a Community Service Chaplain is going out into the community and speaking to people from every walk of life, listening to them respecting them, loving them, caring for them, and letting them know they are not alone. The Community Service Chaplaincy training is a wonderful program.”

If you are interested in participating in an upcoming class and joining the thousands of ordinary people doing extraordinary things for the Kingdom in their communities don’t miss this opportunity. The next Community Service Chaplaincy course will take place during the week of January 16-20, 2023. This course allows you to take both Level One and Two at a significant discounted rate. You may also sign up for just Level One (Monday-Wednesday morning) or Level Two (Wednesday afternoon-Friday). You may attend the class in person at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary in Cleveland, Tennessee or join the class via Zoom from the comfort of your home.
