Dear Friends of the Women & Family Life Center,
October, a crucial month in our calendar, is a time to amplify our voices and ensure that domestic violence does not have a home within our community.
Sadly, according to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men in the US have experienced rape, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime. Connecticut is not excluded from those numbers; our shoreline community is not excluded from those numbers.
Domestic violence impacts countless lives every day, and this month serves as a powerful reminder that our work is far from over. Your active participation is crucial. Together, we can continue to break the silence and offer hope and support to those in need.
If you would like to learn more or where you can find help in your neighborhood, don't miss our community event on October 23. It's a great opportunity to connect and learn. Stop by the Guilford town green from 12:00-4:00 pm (rain date October 24) or join us on Facebook live at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, October 8.
And don't forget that on Thursday, October 17, wear purple to show your support for domestic violence survivors and your pledge to end abuse. Your action matters.
I encourage you to participate, spread the word, and stand with survivors.
Your dedication makes all the difference.
Thank you for being an essential part of our community.
