In the time following our previous update, the wet weather in South East Queensland has continued to be disruptive. While the program was generally maintained throughout April, the rainfall in May was significant.

Our builder, Broad Construction have now structurally completed 100% of the basement slab, columns and external walls to the eastern side of the retail precinct. It is this basement slab that will provide car spaces for patrons accessing the tenancies on the eastern side of the retail precinct. This includes tenancies such as, Dan Murphy’s, Blackwood Espresso, Studio Pilates, and Crafty’s.

The eastern ramp which provides access to the basement slab has also been completed from a structural perspective. The fit off for the car park entrance equipment and line marking will take place towards the end of the project.
Notably, the ground/Level 1 slab pour was completed at the end of May which is a significant achievement.

Other key updates include:

  • Elements towards the Dan Murphy’s end of the site are yet to be completed which includes the HV substation, this is integral to providing electricity to the development and will commence towards the end of June.
  • Columns within the Dan Murphy’s tenancy have now been erected and completed. 
  • Formwork and reinforcing steel have been placed to permit the first pour of concrete to the Level 2 commuter deck, this is set to take place in early June.
  • Precast panelling is now visible from Samford Road and continues to be erected around the ground/Level 1 basement.
  • As the building progresses through the levels, screening to the car park deck will become noticeable.

Despite the fact that rainfall has reached above-average records over the past couple of months, progress on the development has continued to advance.

Broad Construction expect to achieve efficiencies in the construction of the commuter car park deck due to the structurally similar Levels 2 to 4. Following this, the cinema structure will be integrated and Level 5-6 car park decks will be formed.
