Liebe TCGIS Gemeinschaft,
I write to you today with a short, important update on our shared COVID-19 situation.
This afternoon, Governor Walz spoke to the public about our state's next steps in dealing with this crisis. The entirety of his message can be found
here
.
Among other things, he announced that schools will remain closed until Friday, May 1. This means that our school's Equitable Distance Learning Plan, to be finished for publication by Friday, March 27, will go into effect on Monday, April 6.
While it's disappointing that we won't see our kids until May, it is helpful for all of us to have at least some clarity in the matter.
Your staff of educators continues to work hard on the details of our plan and you can expect concrete information by the end of the week. I cannot overstate how impressed I am at how this team has reacted - thoughtful, detail-oriented, caring, kind - exactly what our kids need, exactly what we need!
Also, Twin Cities German Immersion School will continue to provide care for students of Emergency Workers, First Responders and Essential Workers starting April 6th. You may review the list of eligible workers
here
. If you will continue or need to start care at TCGIS please fill out this
form
.
Remember, spring break remains a break. Reminders of how things will roll out will also come on the weekend of April 4-5.
I hope all of you are finding islands of stability, care, joy and safety amid all this unsettling uncertainty. Please know your educators are thinking of you daily, sending our best wishes, doing our very best to do right by our kids and families.
We miss you. We will get through this.
Mit dankbarem Gruß
Ted Anderson
