IB Bulldogs Blast

Greetings Tubman Community,

We have so many exciting things going on at Tubman.  We would like to send a huge

thank you to our 7th and 8th grade students who spoke at the Chicago Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, during the Honoring Excellence portion of the meeting.  Thank you to our wonderful educators, families, and community members for helping and encouraging student voice at Tubman.  The Tubman Debate team will wrap up their season at the CMSDL City Championships this weekend.  Since September, debaters have been debating this year's resolution: water resources.  In two-person teams, debaters have learned about policies relating to fracking, agricultural runoff, and water infrastructure.  Good luck to all debaters, and congratulations on a successful season!  Congratulations to our boys basketball team for making it to the playoffs.  We are also hosting school tours again.  Please check out our school website for upcoming tours or reach out to our IB coordinator Mrs. Freeda Pirillis at [email protected] if you have any questions. We truly believe “It takes a village to raise a child.” We appreciate your continued support!

Warm regards,

Principal Gibson and Assistant Principal Moore

Free On-Site Dental Exams

In partnership with the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), CPS will offer on-site, preventative dental services at no cost to ALL Pre-K-12th-grade students.

As a reminder, all Kindergarten, 2nd grade, 6th grade, and 9th grade students must have a dental exam completed by a licensed dentist before May 15th of the school year.

We will receive a date for this event once we have at least 50 signed consent forms. If you are interested please sign and return this dental consent form. There are also additional copies to sign and drop off in the main office. We will also be sending out forms in the Tuesday folder. The dentist will see all students with a signed consent form.

In addition, the dental team will provide students with:

*Dental Exams

*Dental Cleanings

*Fluoride treatments

*Dental sealants

The average dental exam is only 15 minutes per student. During these COVID 19 times, the school dental programs will follow the CDC's current guidelines established, Chicago Public Schools, and the Chicago Department of Public Health. Classrooms/students will not comingle during dental services.
