New WUI Code

Colorado's new Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Code affects building and landscaping standards where homes meet wildland areas. Broomfield won't consider adoption until early 2026. Your input is needed to shape the state model that Broomfield will be required to follow. Email comments to the WRCB: cdps_dfpc_wrcb@state.co.us. Visit the Wildfire Resiliency Code Board | Fire Prevention and Control state website to learn more.

Extreme Heat is Expected in Broomfield

Take precautions by staying hydrated, avoiding heavy outdoor activity, and by staying cool in your home or moving to locations that are cool. Learn more about extreme heat and summer safety at Broomfield.org/Heat.

The Bay is Reopening

Just in time for your summer fun, the Bay Aquatic Park will be opening to the public for all to enjoy Monday, July 7. There will be two sessions per day for which you can make a reservation: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Reservations will open on a week-by-week basis. New for 2025: there will be a new session available from 5 to 8 p.m. three nights a week. Great American Picnic

Celebrate Independence Day with family, friends and neighbors at Broomfield’s 2025 Great American Picnic! Make sure you get the real-time messaging on weather and fireworks show updates, by subscribing to receive notifications for the Great American Picnic. These notifications will no longer be included on the CCOB social media platforms.

  • Go to the "NotifyMe" section of Broomfield.org
  • Scroll down to the “Alert Center” section and look for “Great American Picnic.”
  • Select your preference of email (envelope icon) or text (phone icon) notifications and follow system prompts to complete sign up. NOTE: Text notifications will likely be easier to retrieve during the event.

Measles Cases

Stay healthy! Measles cases are rising in the Denver Metro area and vaccination provides the best protection. Not sure if you've had the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine?

  • Talk to your parents or look through your files to see if you have a paper record.
  • Check the Colorado Immunization Information System portal
  • Check with your health care provider. If they don’t have a vaccine record, they may do a blood test that can tell if you have immunity.

Want to get vaccinated? Talk to your health care provider or see if you are eligible to get vaccinated at Broomfield’s Immunization Clinic at Broomfield.org/Vaccines.

📰 Scam Alert: The Broomfield Motor Vehicle Division, along with the Colorado DMV, are alerting Coloradans that scammers are impersonating the DMV, falsely claiming that recipients have unpaid tickets and threatening severe consequences such as prosecution, suspension of vehicle registration and revocation of driving privileges. These claims are entirely false, are designed to intimidate individuals into immediate compliance and are NOT from the Broomfield or Colorado DMV. Visit Broomfield.org/MotorVehicle for more details and information.

🏛️ Call-in Service: CCOB is launching a new call-in service through which those who are not in person can provide public comment during a City Council meeting. Visit the Broomfield.org/CouncilMeetings web page for step-by-step instructions on using the call-in service and more.

🏡 Home Renters: Looking for an affordable option for housing that also helps others? 🌳 Nissen Reservoir: The Nissen Reservoir Drainageway project aims to ensure a safer, more resilient future by preventing flooding during significant precipitation events. This project aims to enhance flood control and drainage infrastructure from Tennyson Street near Walmart to just upstream of Lowell Boulevard. Nissen Reservoir Channel runs generally east/west along, and just north of, W. 120th Avenue. To learn more about the project, visit Broomfield.org/NissenReservoir.

🚧 Traffic Signal Construction Underway: Construction has started at Lowell Boulevard and Broadlands Drive. Work includes new signals, signage and ADA-compliant curb ramps. Stay informed about this project at Broomfield.org/IntersectionImprovements.

🌳 Family Learn and Grow: Bring the family to the Teaching Vegetable Garden at Brunner Farmhouse for tips on keeping your garden healthy and thriving. Learn about weeds, water, trellises and more at "Family Learn and Grow: Maintaining Your Garden" this Saturday, June 21 at 9 a.m. Hands-on activities will take place outside and be geared toward 3rd to 5th graders and their families. No registration required.

🚰 Water Use and Drought Restrictions: Watering between 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. helps your landscape absorb more water with less waste, reducing the amount you need to use. Since less water is lost to evaporation, you won’t have to water as often—helping you lower your overall water use and, in turn, reduce your water bill. Learn more at Broomfield.org/WaterUseandDroughtRestrictions.

Sandy, 88, and Judy, 61, found something special through the Senior Sunshine Home Sharing Program—a match that turned a practical arrangement into a meaningful friendship. Sandy, a longtime Broomfield homeowner, wanted to maintain her independence while sharing her home. Judy, also from Broomfield, needed safe, affordable housing and hoped to find a real sense of home. Since moving in together this March, they’ve found mutual support, shared laughter and the comfort of good company. The City and County of Broomfield is proud to help fund the Senior Sunshine Home Sharing Program, which helps seniors rent out rooms in their homes to individuals seeking affordable housing, while creating lasting connections.
