Broomfield Days Grand Marshal

Show your appreciation for an outstanding member of the Broomfield community by nominating them to be the 2026 Grand Marshal of the Broomfield Days Parade! The Grand Marshal is a fun and important part of the Broomfield Days Parade, rides in one of the front cars with their family and is recognized on stage at the parade. Submit your letter of recommendation and nominee biography by tomorrow, May 12 at 11 p.m. using the link below. Community voting will open on May 18!

World Migratory Bird Day of the Rockies

Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day of the Rockies as Broomfield joins other Front Range communities in honor of our feathered friends! This year’s theme, "Every Bird Counts – Your Observations Matter," highlights the vital role of citizen science in protecting migratory species. On May 16, head to Walden Ponds in Boulder for the main celebration, where you can visit CCOB’s educator booth, participate in guided bird walks and learn from regional experts.

Be Ready for Extreme Weather

Summers in Colorado can bring severe weather, like hail and thunderstorms, as well as extreme heat days. Find out more about how to prepare for and be safe during extreme heat events. Preparing for a weather-related emergency and extreme heat is best done before the season starts. 

Make a Splash Memorial Day Weekend

Just in time for summer fun, the Bay Aquatic Park will open to the public for all to enjoy on Saturday, May 23. Starting May 15, ticket sales will open on a week-by-week basis for daily sessions. A new evening session, perfect for cooling off after a long, hot day, will be available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights. Be ready for ticket sales to open by setting up your B-REx.com account online and confirming your residency in person at a Broomfield recreation facility to receive the discounted resident rate! Tickets are released weekly, so plan ahead to secure your spot.

Broomfield Trail Adventure

Celebrate National Trails Day by exploring Broomfield County Commons trails (13200 Sheridan Blvd.) Saturday, June 6, 8-10 a.m. Featuring a new trail section each year, this annual event is great for all ages and ability levels and serves as the Broomfield 100 kickoff. Bring sturdy walking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, water and sunscreen!

💲Partial Property Tax Refund Program: Own a home in Broomfield? As a senior, veteran, resident with a disability or a surviving spouse, you may qualify for the 2026 Partial Property Tax Refund Program. Through this program, refunds up to $1,000 are available. ℹ️ Free Seminar for Broomfield Seniors 60+: The opioid crisis is a nationwide public health emergency with widespread impacts. Attend a free presentation about the history of the opioid crisis, how opioids are prescribed, the neuroscience of addiction and the addiction cycle. 🏠 CCOB Housing Programs: You may be eligible for a variety of programs that assist Broomfield residents in different stages of renting and owning a home. CCOB Housing Division programs provide refunds, loan assistance, legal services and education, homeshare connections and health- and safety-related home repairs. Programs include:

  • Down Payment Assistance Program: First-Time Homebuyer; Property in Broomfield, ≤ 120% AMI
  • Home Rehab Program: Broomfield homeowners, ≤ 80% AMI
  • Legal Housing Assistance
  • Mobile Home Park Initiative: Broomfield Mobile Home Park Resident (18+)
  • Paint-a-Thon: Broomfield homeowners 55+, ≤ 80% AMI
  • Sunshine Home Share: Matching 55+ adults wanting to share a home with a renter

May is Mental Health Awareness Month: Find resources to support your mental well-being using the Broomfield Public Resource Directory. This Broomfield-centric platform allows you to search for services by topic, location and more.

🔔 Broomfield Council Agendas: Get notified when Broomfield Council agendas are published or updated by signing up for the Agenda notifications. Visit the Agenda Portal, enter your email address at the top of the screen and select “Notify Me.”

🏆 Hometown Accomplishments: Broomfield excellence is now on full display through the new Hometown Accomplishments program. Residents and local groups can submit major milestones in athletics, academics and the arts for a chance to be featured in city newsletters and social media. This process provides a clear way for the community to share success stories that foster community pride. Ballot Box Closures: Ballots for the Colorado Primary Election will be available soon, and you should be aware of planned maintenance closures. The cameras on four of the seven CCOB ballot boxes are being repaired, which will provide greater long-term stability and reliability. While these repairs are underway, those four locations will be temporarily closed. This repair will unfortunately not be complete before the Colorado Primary Election. ☀️ Summer Volunteer Opportunity: Enjoy the great outdoors while also helping a neighbor! Become a Yard Pals volunteer and assist a neighbor in need with mowing throughout the summer and fall seasons to keep them code-compliant. 🎉 Sober Summer Night Out: Kick off the summer at this free, family-friendly sober event in Broomfield! 🚌 RTD Route 53 Service Reinstated: RTD route 53 provides service from US 36 and Sheridan Station to the Broomfield Municipal Center seven days a week, hourly from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. There will be an initial temporary detour due to ongoing construction. Plan your ride with the RTD Trip Planner.

🏛️ Broomfield Council Public Hearings: Provide your comments during the public hearings at tomorrow's Broomfield Council meeting about the following topics:

  • Broomfield Council will recognize the Holy Family High School Robotics Team.
  • Proclamations will be heard declaring May 2026 as Mental Health Awareness Month and declaring Public Works Week May 17-23, 2026.
  • Boulder Valley and Adams 12 School Districts will provide a presentation regarding declining enrollment and future plans.
  • The Broomfield Town Square developer has requested that the Broomfield Council postpone its scheduled vote on extending the three-year deadline for the site development plan.

Mayor Castriotta and Broomfield Council proclaimed May as Military Appreciation Month in Broomfield. Veterans from the Broomfield Veteran’s Museum and CCOB staff were on hand for the presentation. A wide variety of activities are planned to celebrate Military Appreciation Month.
