Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Properly dispose of your expired or unneeded medication free of charge at the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the parking lot of the police station located at 7 DesCombes Drive. Participants may dispose of medication in its original container or by removing the medication from its container and disposing of it directly into the disposal box. Also at the event this year, Broomfield Public Health and Environment will be providing Narcan and at-home medication disposal bags for free.

Smart Commute Survey

Take the Smart Commute survey! The City and County of Broomfield is pleased to partner with Smart Commute, a transportation management organization that works with employers to provide an array of transportation options, to understand how employees in the North Denver Metro area are commuting to work. The survey takes five minutes to complete. Respondents can enter for a chance to win one of five $20 King Soopers gift cards from Smart Commute. Responses will be summarized and made available as a report on Smart Commute’s website later this year. Take the survey by Oct. 31 to make your voice heard.

Oliver Jeffers at the Broomfield Library

Join The Bookies and Broomfield Library as they present an evening with visual artist and author Oliver Jeffers Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. in the Broomfield Auditorium. Take a visually stunning journey through humankind’s history with globally renowned artist and international bestselling author, Oliver Jeffers, as he examines our shared motivations for existence in his first illustrated book aimed at an adult audience, “BEGIN AGAIN: The Story of How We Got Here and Where We Might Go.”

Charter Review Committee

Broomfield’s Charter details the structure and powers of Broomfield as a local government and has been in effect since 1974. A Charter Review Committee (CRC) was established to review and analyze the Home Rule Charter, and to advise Council on areas where amendments are desired. The CRC’s seven members want to be sure that they are representing the bulk of Broomfield residents, so take a moment to see what they are discussing and make your voice heard on this matter that affects all Broomfield residents.

🚧 Road Closures: Simms St. between W. 112th Ave. and State Highway 128 will be closed for a realignment project by Jefferson County starting Oct. 9. This closure is entirely in Jefferson County, and the detour route is along W. 108th Ave., Wadsworth Parkway and State Highway 128. City and County of Broomfield staff cannot dictate when or how this construction of the Simms realignment gets completed. Updates can be followed or questions asked at the Jefferson County website.

Mayor Guyleen Castriotta, members of City Council and several staff members attended the 2023 Heart of Broomfield Awards ceremony on Friday, Sept. 29. Winners included the City and County of Broomfield volunteers Rose Kimmerly from the Broomfield Community Center who received the Senior Award, Rory Stuber from the Library who received the Youth Award winner and the Broomfield Workforce Development Center who received the Heart of Gold Group Award.
