Enterprise Funds and Recommended Utility Rate Increases

Take part in Broomfield’s Utility Enterprise Funds that will be coming before the Broomfield City Council in public meetings. The first reading of the proposed ordinance for utility rate increases is scheduled for Oct. 1. A staff presentation will be given on the enterprise funds, utility infrastructure and recommended rate increases and attendees will be able to provide comments. The second reading and public hearing of the proposed ordinance for utility rate increases is scheduled for Oct. 22.

Household Hazardous Waste

Make your appointment for the household hazardous and electronic waste drop-off event Saturday, Oct. 12! Broomfield residents can drop off items such as aerosols, fertilizers, weedkillers, electronic waste and more at NO CHARGE! Make your appointment, view a full list of accepted items and find details about the event at Broomfield.org/HHW.

Down Payment Assistance Program

See if you qualify for housing assistance. First time Homebuyers may qualify for the Down Payment Assistance program. Homebuyers who fit into the income parameters can receive a 30-year loan with 0% annual interest, up to 10% of the purchase price. CCOB is providing loan funding, in coordination with Colorado Housing Assistance Corporation, to make the Down Payment Assistance program available to Broomfield residents.

Broomfield Out Loud - Meet the Storytellers

Discover stories of Broomfield at the Broomfield Out Loud Showcase Oct. 18 at the Broomfield Auditorium. The showcase is a free event where local stories come to life through art. Experience powerful collaborations between residents and artists, with stories told through painting, music, textiles and more. See what makes Broomfield home through the eyes of those who live here. 🚧 Former Event Center Demolition Update: On Tuesday, Sept. 24, the Broomfield Urban Renewal Authority (BURA) approved a contract amendment with Colorado Cleanup Corporation to proceed with the “Green Demolition with Recycling” option for the former Broomfield Event Center. This approval allows the contractor to finalize permits and proceed with the project. The building is no longer accessible to anyone. An auction of the remaining furniture and equipment will likely be held in October. The project web page will be updated with additional information as it becomes available.

🚲 Go-Tober: Sign up your organization for the Go-Tober challenge! Employers can spend the month of October encouraging employees to take and track eco-friendly trips for a chance to win prizes. The top employer in each of the five leaderboard categories will earn paid media recognition after the event ends in November. Visit the Commuting Solutions website and Smart Commute website to learn about free commuting services offered to businesses in Broomfield.

🧘 Release, Reset and Rejuvenate: Enjoy a rejuvenating journey through Breathwork, Yin Yoga and Sound Sunday, Oct. 6 from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Crescent Grange. Sign up for the class and support your personal journey towards physical, vibrational, mental, emotional and spiritual health and balance.

🚗 Last Chance! BTSAP: Want to help improve safety on Broomfield's transportation network? Share your safety concerns and ideas to improve transportation safety in Broomfield at BroomfieldVoice.com/BTSAP. Your input, combined with safety and collision data, will be used to create the Broomfield Transportation Safety Action Plan (BTSAP). The BTSAP will identify ways to improve safety on Broomfield’s multimodal transportation network and include both action steps and recommendations that aim to reduce crashes and serious injuries when traveling in Broomfield. The survey and map close TOMORROW, Oct. 1!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Broomfield 100 (B100) Challenge! The B100 saw its best year yet, with a new virtual map, information in English and Spanish, virtual trail videos, trailhead informational check-in stations, monthly prizes and a completion prize of custom socks! To everyone who explored Broomfield trails from the Broomfield Trail Adventure (June 1) to Broomfield Days (Sept. 21,) CCOB hopes you had a great time exploring Broomfield Trails, and hopes to see you again next year!
