Did you know how your waste is collected impacts Broomfield’s sustainable future? In 2021, 61% of community survey respondents said they were interested in single-hauler neighborhood trash collection, which the City and County of Broomfield is considering implementing. Moving to a single licensed hauler could reduce greenhouse gas emissions, road congestion, waste diversion to landfills and give residents more opportunities to recycle with ease. Want to learn about what this could mean for your home and the community? Attend the Universal Waste Collection Community Forum on Feb. 16 from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Broomfield Council Chambers.

Groundhog Day is observed every year on Feb. 2, and originated in the town of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. The day derives from an old Germanic tale saying each year a groundhog will poke its head up out of its den to see its shadow. If the groundhog sees his shadow (meaning its a clear day), the winter will carry on for six more weeks. If, however, it does not see its shadow, it means we're getting an early spring. Learn more about the fun tradition and its history.
