ST. JOHN VIANNEY PARISH
Community Update
for Sunday May 8, 2022
Fourth Sunday of Easter
Pastor's Note
Happy Mother's Day! Today we honor all those who have nurtured life in us (including all our mothers who pray for us from eternity like Fr John’s mother). Today is also Good Shepherd Sunday and a collection has been taken for all our retired priests including Fr Steve Brown and Mons. Gene O'Donnell. Let's celebrate all these good people God has placed in our lives for the life God has grown in us--our physical life and spiritual life. The way we celebrate is by offering this Eucharist.

An additional way we celebrate is our SJV Fiesta. We are three weeks away from the Fiesta! It has been three long years since we have had our traditional SJV Fiesta gathering. All the food, the music, the games are returning with the exciting addition of animals and additional activities for children. The SJV Fiesta is the longest running community carnival in the County of Santa Clara—and for good reason. Although we had gatherings during the brunt of the pandemic last year, we are now able to gather as a community in larger numbers. For those who are just returning and those who have been coming, SJV is still your home and we are happy you are a part of it. We have many new households to our parish as we this year will celebrate 70 years. It is time to gather. I am happy that more of our community is involved in the planning and executing of our parish. The Fiesta will be an opportunity to gather old friends, make new friends, and build toward our 75th anniversary as a household of God in East San Jose. I encourage you to get involved by getting in contact with Diana Galvan and Cindy Perea through our parish office.

Read on for some exciting details, especially our Mother’s Day Celebration, Our Lady of Fatima Procession, and the Revs Sems Game.

Finally, in wake of this week’s news of a possible ruling from the Supreme Court, our Bishop’s response remains the same here.

Saint John Vianney, pray for us!

God bless,

Fr Joe

St John Vianney, pray for us!

Peace,

Fr Joe
