Livermore Rolls Out GIS Open Data Hub

We are excited to announce the launch of our new GIS Open Data Hub, a free online resource providing the community with interactive web maps, downloadable data, and digital tools. Designed to increase public access to information, this new hub allows residents, businesses, and researchers to explore everything from infrastructure projects and election districts to bikeways and public safety areas.

Community Service Day Draws Over 600 Volunteers

Over 600 amazing volunteers came together for this year's Community Service Day, tackling more than 25 different sites across Livermore. For those interested in continuing to contribute, numerous local nonprofits are in need of assistance throughout the year. We encourage residents to explore the ongoing volunteer opportunities available with these organizations as well as our team to provide sustained support for our community.

Local Collaboration on Heat Resilience & Cooling Strategies

We are collaborating with Quest Science Center on an initiative to mitigate extreme heat in Livermore. Quest student interns have designed and built specialized temperature sensors to collect localized data to identify urban 'hotspots' within the city limits. We are utilizing this data set to identify, develop, and eventually, deploy targeted cooling strategies.

Did You Know? Trapping & Relocating Wildlife is Illegal

We want to remind residents that it is illegal to trap and relocate wild animals unless you have a permit from the California Department of Fish & Wildlife. Releasing animals into unfamiliar areas risks spreading disease to local wildlife and can be dangerous, as local animals may see them as intruders. If you encounter an injured or orphaned animal, please contact the Lindsay Wildlife Rehabilitation Hospital or the Veterinary Emergency Group (San Ramon); Livermore Police Animal Services can also be contacted for guidance.

Making a Mini-Forest in Your Yard

We are teaming up with the TriCity Air Quality Climate Alliance to host a free screening of the film, "Making a Mini-Forest." This event will explore the Miyawaki Method for ecological restoration—a technique used to plant dense, native forests quickly in small spaces like yards. The screening event also includes a Youth Forest Makers Panel, Q&A, and refreshments on Sunday, October 12, at 3:30 p.m. in the Livermore Public Library Community Room. Registration is required.

Be Prepared to Drop, Cover, & Hold On

With a high likelihood of earthquakes in Livermore, preparing now is crucial for your safety. We encourage all residents to join the Great ShakeOut earthquake drill on Thursday, October 16, at 10:16 a.m., practice "Drop, Cover, and Hold On," and ensure your Go Bag is ready. Community members are also encouraged to sign up for the MyShake App to receive early earthquake warnings.

Share Livermore's Story: City Historian Recruitment Underway

We are looking to fill the role of city historian, a position key to increasing public awareness of the deep history of our city and community. We are inviting applications from individuals with experience presenting local historical information, teaching courses in local and regional history, or those affiliated with organizations dedicated to advancing Livermore's history. The deadline to submit applications is Friday, November 14, at 5 p.m.

Leaf Collection Schedule Now Available

Uncollected leaves are the primary cause of clogged storm drains, creating hazardous street conditions when it rains. Our Leaf Pick-Up Program is scheduled to begin the week following Thanksgiving and conclude by mid-February, dependent upon weather conditions.
