Connecting for Conversations | | |
Greetings!
We continue to see the pull for "both/and" - showing up online and in our local communities. More and more, this HXO platform is like an online wellness fair showcasing members and their events AND we love that so many members are also present at wellness fairs in their local communities.
See below to meet a few members and get their top tips on connecting for conversations that make a difference at local wellness fairs, whether you are attending or exhibiting.
Thanks for being here in this big, beautiful #holistixonline space!

Make the Most of Wellness Fairs:
Attending + Exhibiting
| | |
Millions of people use the web and AI to explore wellness options, and we want them to find you, even if you're in the middle of a digital detox!
But online discovery is only part of the picture.
There are plenty of people who want to explore what's available in their local community, even while some are housebound or just too busy.
Wellness fairs, expos, and seasonal community events are outstanding opportunities to connect face-to-face.
We asked Holistix Online (HXO) members: How do you make the most of your time at a wellness fair?
Here are their tips, lightly edited for clarity and length while preserving their individual perspectives.

Come curious and make connections
The common thread in these tips is connection: arrive curious, ask questions, and stay in touch for further discovery. Remember, a wellness fair is more than just another item on your to-do list; it can help you with a fresh start for your future.

Go to holistic wellness expos with an open mind. Don't prejudge a booth or modality. Stop and talk to people! You might otherwise walk right past something that could make a difference in your life.
I've spent more than nine years at expos with Love Lingo Positive Energy-Based Apparel. I've seen people dismiss our booth as 'just a T-shirt,' only to return years later, hear the story, and discover a shirt they love. Those conversations open the door to discussing the messages we encounter through what we say, think, hear, read, and wear.

Laura Di Franco | Brave Healer Productions Publishing
A return to connection in your community breathes life into your soul. Connection is why we're on the planet. When we gather, we heal. When we gather, we discover more about who we are. When we gather, we make more magic in the world, together. I can't wait to meet with my friends at the next opportunity that comes my way! And, of course, there's nothing like those hugs!

Dr. Medge Jaspan | From Your Heart: The 90-Day SHIFT
Drawing on her book, From Your Heart: The 90-Day SHIFT: Unplug, Reset, and Rewrite Your Story, Dr. Jaspan offers this reminder: 'Real transformation comes from the small choices we make every day. You can choose a different thought. You can replace criticism with kindness, fear with curiosity, and self-doubt with self-trust.'

Before you go, take a few minutes to review the participating organizations and identify two or three resources you want to learn more about. Bring questions, collect contact information, and follow up afterward. Wellness fairs can be more than a one-day event. They can become a doorway to ongoing support, education, connection, and community resources.

Connections that continue beyond the fair
The common thread in these tips is connection: make it easy for people to connect with you, and stay in touch afterward. Anyone you meet could need your product or service today or a month from now, or send someone else to check you out online. Follow up is key!

Jason Hottel | With the Fluff
Bring a personal item that people can relate to.
I bring Baxter, a plush wolf, to fairs and events. Baxter connects me to my inner child, and I post his coffee adventures on Facebook every day. Many adults still have a stuffed animal from childhood, so they often relate to Baxter right away.
Many people I work with are burned out and find it difficult to open up. When they see Baxter on my table, he gives them something comfortable to talk about first. He often helps visitors relax. Once we've connected, we can talk about in more depth.

Marisa Maggio-Harelson | Inspire My Change
My biggest tip for making the most of a community fair or expo is simple: Engage, educate, and connect!
Create an inviting space with eye-catching visuals, customer testimonials, before-and-after photos, and product samples people can try on the spot. Keep a trash receptacle nearby for sample cups. No one wants to carry around garbage.
Focus on listening, asking thoughtful questions, sparking curiosity, and building relationships. Not everyone is ready to buy that day, so follow-up is key. Continue the conversation!
