Feature Exercise Classes for December
For the month of December on Wednesdays from 2-3pm, Lukas will be taking a break from teaching the Balls and Balance class.
However, Andres Guerrero, our new Coordinator, Community Programs, will be featuring Exercise with Andres on Wednesdays from 2-3pm.

Coming up:
 
  • December 15: Total Body Conditioning class: A combination of seated and standing, Medium to high impact class designed to increase strength and endurance using household items as “weights” (or dumbbells if you have them)
 
  • December 22: Cardio and Dance class: A medium impact class that combines cardio movements and dance steps, to help create a stronger functioning heart

Concerts & Conversations with Concerts in Care
SPRINT Senior Care is happy to partner with Concerts in Care Ontario (CiCO) to offer live interactive concerts! These concerts are with professional musicians via Zoom and take place weekly every Wednesday from 2:30 p.m. until the end of December. 

On Wednesday, December 15, the Zoom Concert will be featuring Kevin Ahfat (piano) - a phenomenal young pianist and member of the ARC Ensemble [Artists of the Royal Conservatory].

On Wednesday, December 22, the Zoom Concert will be featuring Christopher Dawes (organ) playing our first ever ORGAN concert. He is the Director of Music for Rosedale Presbyterian Church / collaborative pianist at the Faculty of Music, U of T. Christopher says the the organ at Rosedale United is beautiful to look at as well as to hear. 


NOTE: There will be NO concert on December 29, but Concerts in Care will be back in January!
Participants can sign in 15 minutes prior to the concert start time (2:30 p.m.) and there will be staff from Concerts in Care ready to let participants in.

Gerstein Crisis Centre
in partnership with Toronto Seniors Helpline
Gerstein Crisis Centre in partnership with Toronto Seniors Helpline is hosting a 9 - week Online Wellness Support Group for adults over 55 years of age.

Sessions are every Wednesday starting January 19th until March 23rd, 2022, from 2- 4pm.

We use a PHIPA compliant Zoom platform for our groups. Groups are accessible by computer, smart devices as well as landlines

The City of Toronto and Findhelp|211 Central
The City of Toronto and Findhelp|211 Central have developed the Directory of Services for Seniors and Caregivers in Toronto to help people learn about and access the many services available to them. The Directory was co-created with the input and support of many seniors, caregivers and service providers across the city. With the support of organizational partners serving Black, Indigenous, Francophone, newcomers, Veteran and 2SLGBTQ+ seniors, there are also specialized chapters about targeted supports available for these communities.
 
An initial limited number of printed copies will be distributed later in the year through the Library, City and community partners working with seniors facing low-incomes, isolation, technology barriers and other vulnerabilities.
 
Instructions on how to easily access information in over 150+ languages is included throughout the Directory.
 
Please feel free to share widely with older adults and caregivers you know.
Virtual Stress Management Group
This six-week support group will be held from November 10 to December 15 at 2-3:30pm. The program is designed to educate and elaborate on stress. Conversation topics are structured towards common interests between participants, including: relaxation and breathing techniques, conflict resolution and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
