Community Services Update

October 2023

October isn't just a month for tricks and treats -- it's also a time for community partnerships and service projects! Read on to see just a few of the ways our Atlantic Housing staff and residents joined with nonprofit organizations, civic leaders, and first responders to make a difference in their communities.

The Stone Creek management team joined a tree-planting community project with the Elm Fork Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists, Keep Lewisville Beautiful, and the The City of Lewisville to plant trees. Community Engagement Associate Nancy Blueitt said,"It was an amazing experience to contribute to nature and the future generations that will see the trees grow."

The Covington Creek management team hosted an on-site event for National Night Out, "an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie." The team was happy to get their picture taken with a few local heroes from the Irving Fire Department.

National Resident Night Out 2023 was hosted by the Round Rock Police Department at the Waters at Sunrise apartments, and the management team says it was a great success! They enjoyed meeting Mayor Craig Morgan and Chief of Police Allen Banks who came out for this event.

Roses In Concrete, a youth mentoring program founded by Cyrus Byrch, continues to host weekly sessions with young residents at the Waters at St. James apartments. This month included discussions on the qualities of leadership and the problems with bullying.

Many Atlantic Housing Management employees showed their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and survivors by wearing pink to the office on October 19. According to the American Cancer Society, when breast cancer is detected early, and is in the localized stage, the 5-year survival rate is around 99%.

Since 2006, Atlantic Housing Foundation has awarded over $17 million in academic and housing scholarships! The application window just opened for our next scholarship cycle - who do you know that's ready to learn and launch into their career?
