March 2026

Community | Connection | Celebration

A Note from the Executive Director

Dear Members, Friends, Neighbours, and Volunteers,

March feels like a threshold.

The light lingers a little longer.

The air softens.

There is a quiet sense that something is beginning again.

At the Centre, this season is not about rushing forward.

It is about emerging thoughtfully.

Winter asked us to care for one another in steady ways.

March asks us to open the windows just a little wider.

To try something new.

To say yes to connection.

To let fresh ideas take root.

Community, like spring, doesn’t arrive all at once.

It unfolds in conversations.

In shared laughter.

In the courage to participate.

This month also brings a meaningful moment of reflection and celebration as we mark International Women’s Day. It is a time to honour resilience, leadership, care, and the many ways women shape our communities, often quietly, always powerfully.

As we continue planning for our 50th Anniversary, strengthening partnerships across neighbourhood centres, and welcoming new programs into our schedule, I am reminded again:

This Centre grows because you grow with it.

Thank you for showing up.

Thank you for believing in this space.

Thank you for choosing community.

With warmth and gratitude,

Jenny Zee Majzoub

Executive Director

March at the Centre

As winter loosens its grip, the Centre is stepping into a season of creativity, learning, and renewed energy.

Our regular programs continue to provide steady rhythm and connection, movement classes, social gatherings, creative exploration, and shared conversation remain the heart of our weeks.

March also brings new opportunities to gather and grow.

International Women’s Day Special Event

Women Talking

Friday, March 6

11:15 am – 12:45 pm

Join us as we gather in honour of International Women’s Day, a time to reflect on the past, engage with the present, and imagine the future of womanhood together.

This year’s guest speaker is our own Executive Director, Jenny Zee Majzoub, who will share personal reflections on leadership, belonging, resilience, and building community across cultures.

Through conversation and shared experience, we will explore the many ways women shape families, workplaces, and communities, often quietly, always powerfully.

All are warmly welcome to attend this meaningful and inspiring gathering.

Help Us Make the Founders Room Warmer & Cozier

As part of Courtney's work here at the centre, she is hoping to create a warmer and cozier environment in our Founders Room. If you have or know of anyone who might have any interior decorations to donate,

please email her, Courtney, at support@csvac.ca. Although all donations are appreciated, she is

specifically searching for additional lighting (reading/floor lamps) and seating, decorative greenery, and table runners. If you have any ideas of how to make this space more welcoming, please let her know!

Special General Meeting

Thank you to everyone who attended our Special General Meeting and supported the introduction of our new software system.

Your engagement, questions, and trust make operational growth possible. Strengthening our systems allows us to serve you with greater clarity, efficiency, and care.

We are grateful for your participation and continued support.

A Visit from Grace Lore, MLA

We were pleased to welcome Grace Lore, MLA, for a visit to the Centre.

During her time with us, she toured the space, connected with members, and learned more about the programs and partnerships that shape our work.

These visits help amplify the voices of our community and strengthen relationships beyond our walls.

Celebrating Faria

Our volunteers gathered to celebrate a joyful milestone, a baby shower for Faria, our Rental Coordinator, as she prepares to welcome her baby girl.

It was a beautiful reminder that community extends beyond programs and into life’s most meaningful moments.

Congratulations, Faria. We are so excited for you and your growing family.

Creativity in Every Season

Geraldine continues to brighten our days with her creativity.

From Valentine’s themes to Lunar New Year, St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, and rainbow-inspired LGBTQ+ designs, her hand-painted seasonal glasses bring colour, joy, and celebration into our shared space.

Art has a way of marking time, and Geraldine helps us do just that.

March Inspiration

“Spring doesn’t force the bloom.

It creates the conditions for it.”

This month, may we create those conditions for ourselves and for one another, patience, light, warmth, and room to grow.
