Community invited to XWA Grand Opening Oct. 5
Williston Economic Development - Williston area residents are invited to the grand opening of the Williston Basin International Airport on Saturday, October 5 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Lace up your tennis shoes for the Runway Run at 11 a.m., enjoy family-friend events, entertainment and tours of XWA! The new $270 million regional airport will be on display for one day only. Don't miss your chance to see airport before it officially begins operation on Thursday, October 10. Contractor Appreciation Day held at XWA
Williston Economic Development - A free BBQ was held on Sept. 4 in honor of Contractor Appreciation Day at the Williston Basin International Airport (XWA). The BBQ was held to thank the contractors for their part in making XWA a reality. More than 300 workers were served. The event was sponsored by Acme Tools, Cardon Global and Martin Construction. The airport is scheduled to open October 10.

Continental Oil Exec: US is Greatest Oil Country in World

Sidney Herald - Americans haven't talked about their country as the greatest oil country in the world, but they need to, Continental Oil's Blu Hulsey told a crowd of oil and gas industry professionals, who gathered in Billings, Montana on Wednesday, Aug. 28, for the annual MPA Conference. Hulsey doubled down on Continental Oil's recent estimates that there are actually 30 to 40 billion barrels of recoverable oil in the Bakken. That's four to five times larger than the government's most recent estimates. Read More
NDPC Annual Meeting Sept. 17-19 in Watford City

Construction underway on New Watford City Elementary School

McKenzie County Farmer - Three months after McKenzie County Public School District No. 1 officials and community members broke ground for Watford City's second elementary school, the precast walls began going up. Sidney Herald - Morton Buildings is making its way out west and established a location in Sidney as of January. With a salesman on the ground and several buildings up, Morton knows one thing for sure - it's economic boom in the area is just beginning. "If you're only looking at the oil activity, sure you could say we're a little late," said Tom Janke, area manager for the Northern Plains North region of Morton. "But farming is still farming.
