We are so excited to welcome you to campus! Specific to Commuter Students, it is important to review the Arriving instructions, which provides steps to complete upon your arrival to campus.

Current Conditions in Syracuse, NY

The City of Syracuse and New York State Department of Transportation are continuing infrastructure improvements in areas surrounding Syracuse University.
Some construction activity remains underway near campus, including areas near the JMA Wireless Dome, Brewster, Boland, Sadler and Lawrinson Halls.
While sidewalks and pedestrian pathways are available, conditions may continue to change as work is completed. Please follow posted signage and use designated walkways.
Temporary gravel areas may remain in some locations until final sidewalk work is completed.

Guidance upon Arrival

Exercise caution in and around active construction areas and use designated pedestrian routes whenever possible.
We appreciate your patience as these improvements are completed and remain committed to providing a safe and welcoming experience for students and families.

Parking and Shuttles

Commuter students are encouraged to explore the Welcome Week Parking and Transportation Details before arriving for Welcome Week. While on campus, utilize the University's interactive campus maps to locate various offices, resources and events.

Welcome Week

Welcome Week is Syracuse University's required orientation program. While you are not living on campus, you are still required to attend Welcome Week events, beginning with New Student Convocation at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026.
