Flare Selection for the Chemical Process Industries

The proper selection of flare equipment has the potential to result in optimized capital and operational costs while additionally maintaining compliance with environmental requirements. The improper application of a flare technology can lead not only to poor performance but to negative environmental impacts as well. 


A Flare for Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) Control

There are essentially two types of flares which can be used for VOC control: an elevated, open-flame (known as a candlestick flare), and an enclosed flare.


Can you destroy Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in a boiler?

The typical high fire operating temperature of a boiler exceeds that, making this method attractive. However, there are many operating phases of a boiler that will make this method almost impossible.

Clean Energy Fuels to Open RNG Station for Amazon, Local Fleets

Newport Beach-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp. will formally open a new renewable gas (RNG) station in Ohio next week to serve Amazon freight trucks and provide access to local fleets.

Ports work toward 2030 goal for full fleet of zero-emission cargo equipment

The San Pedro Bay ports have been at work for more than three years now on a plan to convert all of their cargo-handling equipment to zero-emission technology by 2030. Late last month, the ports released the project’s first three-year update report, which found there has been significant progress toward achieving that goal. But the document also made clear that plenty of work lies ahead.

Exclusive-U.S. EPA to consider tougher emissions rules for heavy trucks

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will consider adopting more stringent greenhouse gas emissions rules for heavy trucks after Congress passed new incentives to speed the adoption of zero-emission vehicles, the agency told Reuters. The agency said it will reopen the proposed GHG rules after passage in August of the climate and spending Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
