COMPASSION & THE TRUE MEANING OF LIFE

We now carry eight wall hanging designs in our collection of Dharma Quote Banners. All of the quotes were spoken by His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama. This month we are featuring two popular wall hangings: "Compassion" and "The True Meaning of Life." We sell the Dharma Quote Banners for $9 /each. During October, we are selling these two wall hangings for half price, $4.50 /each. Each wall hanging is 9" x 16". They are fully hemmed, have hand-carved wooden dowels with braided hanging string at the top and a dowel with tassels at the bottom. Be sure to look at the other designs; we have plenty in stock.

COMPASSION

Usually, our concept of Compassion or Love refers to the feelings of closeness we have with our friends and loved ones. Sometimes Compassion also carries a sense of pity. This is wrong. Any Love or Compassion which entails looking down on the other is not genuine Compassion. To be genuine, Compassion must be based on respect for the other and for the realization that others have the right to be happy and overcome suffering, just as much as you. On this basis, since you can see that others are suffering, you can develop a genuine sense of concern for them

THIS MONTH'S PRACTICE & NAGA OFFERING CALENDARS

During the 9th month of the Tibetan Calendar, the Nagas are gathering the essence of trees. The sap of the trees are owned by the Nagas and they are very connected to trees at this time. If you make offerings to them on teb days, you will always have luxuries. If you make offerings to them on dok days, they will perceive your offering as burning fire and flee. Some text say that Nagas will punish you by giving you contageous diseases.

The most auspicious days to make offerings this month are October 17, 22 and November 2, 3. Do not make offerings on the dok days: Oct. 15, 18, 21,25, 29, 30, 31, & Nov. 1.
