Compassion and Connection: A Message From LEAP's Executive Director
For 10 years, through in-prison programming, LEAP has given incarcerated women the tools to succeed. Yet, to thrive, women transitioning from prison -- indeed all of us -- need more.

More compassion, more empathy, more connection.

The profound importance of compassionate engagement is why LEAP cohosts the 10 Days of Connection. For 10 days in May LEAP and over 100 other organizations hosted events designed to break down silos. LEAP, in partnership with The Venture City and The Thumb Fighter, hosted Stories of Second Chances.

Thank-you to the brave souls who shared personal stories of hardship, loss, redemption, and grace. And, just as importantly, thank-you to everyone who listened; for bearing witness to the stories of others is one of the most powerful ways to connect with our shared humanity.

Our shared humanity is the focus of the Compassion Project , a 16-week exhibit at the Coral Gables Museum featuring portraits of LEAP graduates. Curated and created by LEAP volunteer, Starr Sariego, this powerful exhibit will be a beautiful opportunity to bear witness to the stories of the women of LEAP. Please join us for the grand opening on June 7th -- details below.

We frequently host gatherings that provide opportunities to connect, so check out our list of upcoming events below. We are especially looking forward to celebrating LEAP's 10 year anniversary with our Second Chance Soiree on September 26, so be sure to save the date.

With love and gratitude,

LADIES EMPOWERMENT AND ACTION PROGRAM
Thank you to our generous supporters!
Over the past 10 years working with women in prison, we at LEAP have learned that if given tools to succeed, most will remain crime free. Those tools include education, access to jobs, mental health and addiction services and housing.

Thanks to the support of our community, over the past 2 years LEAP has expanded from an in-prison program, to one that includes housing, employment and other support post release. We have been able to expand our services thanks to community support.

We are proud to announce that the Denise Moon Fund of the Miami Foundation, Capital One Bank and the Miami Foundation Community Grants Program recently awarded LEAP grants to expand our post release services, and to develop a comprehensive paid retail internship for LEAP graduates at the Dragonfly Thrift Boutique.

LEAP is 100% dependent on the generosity of our community. Please consider donating today.
