What a month it’s been! Fires, mass shootings, loss of belongings and loss people we love. How do we respond? How do we live through such horror?
Trust in the name of the Lord
and rely upon your God,
when dark days come.
(Isaiah 49:24, 25)
Our world desperately needs to know that amid the darkness, God is real; that to Him we as dear and precious and greatly beloved. We need Him.
I feel like the apostle Paul when he said:
“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body” (2 Cor. 4:8, 9).
Thinking of producing without Jeff Wood and his large abilities has forced us to reevaluate our work here at LLT. How do we accomplish the projects without him? Should we keep going? Should we turn in the towel? Retire? The answer came without hesitation: people need to know the Lord and people need the glimpse of Him that we offer. So many of you sent encouraging messages assuring us that you value and use the materials produced by LLT. You encouraged us to keep going, that this work needs to be done.
This morning I came across these words:
“There are times when it seems to the servant of God impossible to do the work necessary to be done, because of the lack of means to carry out a strong, solid work. Some are fearful that with the facilities at their command they cannot do all that they feel it their duty to do.
But if they advance in faith, the salvation of God will be revealed, and prosperity will attend their efforts.
He who has bidden His followers to go into all parts of the world will sustain every laborer who in obedience to the command seeks to proclaim the message.
“In the upbuilding of His work God does not always make everything plain before His servants. He sometimes tries the confidence of His people by bringing about circumstances which compel them to move forward by faith. Often He brings them into strait and trying places, and bids them advance when their feet seem to be touching the waters of Jordan. It is at such times when the prayers of His servants ascend to Him in earnest faith, that God opens the way before them and brings them out into a large place.” (AA 357)
