FACULTY/STAFF NOTES
* Kaushik Dutta, professor in and chair of the Information Systems and Decision Sciences Department; Shivendu Shivendu, an associate professor in the ISDS Department and Kiran Garimella, an adjunct professor in the department, have written a white paper on the topic of blockchain that has been published in the AACSB blog. * Ron Satterfield was named director of the weekend Executive Business Analytics and Information Systems program. He was the founding director of the program and replaces Kaushik Dutta, who is now chair of the Information Systems and Decision Sciences Department. Satterfield received the "best professor award" in the program, given by the fall 2018 graduates.

* Joni Jones, associate professor in the Information Systems and Decision Sciences Department, has been named director of the MS Business Analytics and Information Systems program.

* Triparna de Vreede , the academic director of the MS in Management program,  was named associate chair of the Information Systems and Decision Sciences Department.

* Tony Kong, associate professor in the Information Systems and Decision Sciences Department, has been named director of the BS in Management program. Kong was hired in the fall and prior to his appointment here, was a tenured associate professor of management and leadership at the University of Houston's Bauer College of Business.

* Janelle Wells, assistant professor, and Michelle Harrolle, director of the Vinik Sport & Entertainment Management Program, have published a book titled  The Business of Esports: The Wild, Wild West on Fire.


ALUMNI NOTES

* Eric Blankenship ('99, Marketing) has been named chief marketing officer for The Heights District, Armature Works and the Tampa-based restaurant group, BE-1 Concepts. He previously served as vice president of marketing for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Tampa Bay Sports & Entertainment and Amalie Arena.

Eric Lund ('10, Finance, Marketing, Management) is now director of recruiting at EMIDS. Previously he worked as a recruiting manager with Cognizant.

* Michael Friedman ('16, Business Economics) has accepted an associate underwriter position with First American Title. The former 25 Under 25 honoree previously served as a legal intern for the firm, while attending law school at the University of Florida.

* Amber West ('15, Accounting) has started a new position as business consultant in the Business Analysis & Reporting Department at Publix Super Markets. Previously she served as senior audit associate with KPMG and was a financial accounting teaching assistant at USF. She is a former 25 Under 25 honoree.

* Brian Deligero ('15, MBA) has been promoted to business analyst with The Walt Disney Company. He has been with the company since January 2018.

* Mariana Castaneda ('12, Marketing) has started a new position as social media coordinator at Little, Brown Laboratory, Hachette Book Group in New York City.

* Daniel Dorman ('15, Finance) is now senior financial analyst with PepsiCo. As a student he was in the Applied Securities Analysis program.



* Sept. 18, noon until 5:30 p.m., the inaugural USF eSports Summit, hosted by the Vinik Sport & Entertainment Management Program takes place in the Muma College of Business atrium. The event features speakers and panel discussions about the emerging esports industry. Admission for USF students faculty and staff is free. For more information,  click here.  

* Sept. 19, 8:30-10 a.m., the Muma College of Business Conversation with a CEO 
featuring Steve Presley, chairman and CEO of Nestlé USA, will take place at the Center for Advanced Med ical Learning Simulation, 124 S. Franklin St., in downtown Tampa. Presley is a USF alumnus who earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance. To register, click here.

* Oct. 10, 8:30-10 a.m., the Muma College of Business Conversation with a CEO with Rich Hume, chief executive officer with Tech Data, will be held in the Center for Advanced Medical Learning Simulation, 124 S. Franklin St., in downtown Tampa. To register, click here.

* Oct. 11, 5-8 p.m. the Muma College of Business Homecoming Parade Watch Party
takes place in the atrium and in the breezeway with free eats and giveaways topped off with a front row seat to watch the annual Running of the Bulls Homecoming Parade, which begins at 7 p.m. This year, the party is billed as the Taste of Muma, which features restaurants owned by alumni coming to the Muma College of Business offering samples of their tasty fares. * Nov. 5-8, the Florida Small Business Development Center at USF will host its 43rd USF Basic Economic Development Course, which allows registrants who successfully complete the program to sit for the Certified Economic Developer examination. * Nov. 5-6, NASA's ISS Destination Station visits Tampa and will land at the Muma College of Business over two days. For more information, click here.

* Jan. 9, the State of the Region, hosted by the Muma College of Business along with the Tampa Bay Partnership, is scheduled to take place at the USF Marshall Student Center. Watch for details.
