FARM TO GLASS CRAFT BEER CO-CREATION EVENT
Calicraft Brewing Company is partnering with Cal Social Good and UC Berkeley to host an innovative collaborative design experience that leverages the power of community to inspire ideas that are good for the planet.

The Craft Beer Co-Creation Event is calling all innovators, creatives, entrepreneurs, marketers, foodies, graphic designers, organic farmers, craft beer lovers, story tellers, and social good influencers.

Participants from all backgrounds are invited to create a themed craft beer from concept to market that's made from locally sourced ingredients and represents the California lifestyle.

Selected ideas generated during the event will be used to co-create a new Calicraft beer that will be released during San Francisco Beer Week in February 2020.

TEAM BUILDING & RECHARGING
Peak Performance Float and Wellness Center , Walnut Creek’s first and only float center, held its inaugural Corporate Wellness Retreat last month for a group of male physicians from a large health care organization. And according to Peak Performance Float founder and retreat coordinator Rebecca Sgambati, at the end of the day, “the physicians were refreshed and relaxed when they left, which was restorative for them and a great joy for me.”

Partnering with her Shadelands neighbor John Muir Health Ultimate Fieldhouse, Rebecca first escorted the physicians to the fieldhouse where they played basketball and watched a “how to float” video on a very large screen. [If you've never floated weightless in warm, salty water, this is a must see.]

They returned to Peak Performance Float where they were treated to a 60-minute float, journaling and mindfulness exercises, light therapy, yoga, guided meditation, and lunch.

The goal for this group was team building and camaraderie, with large doses of activities to refresh, restore, and recharge. The float therapy and wellness center has a full menu of services and designs retreats to fit the goals and expectations of each corporate client.

“Many business and civic leaders are in high stress jobs and industries. Many are in a constant state of triage,” says Rebecca. “It never ceases to impress me how powerful just taking time out for one day can be for a group of people engaging in bonding, mindfulness, and restorative activities together.”

WITH HELP COMES HOPE
In 1999, Senator Harry Reid, who lost his father to suicide, introduced a resolution to the United States Senate which led to the creation of International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day . The day was designated by the U.S. Congress as a day on which those affected by suicide can join together for healing and support.

Every year, hundreds of large and small Survivor Day events are held around the world, in which suicide loss survivors come together to find connection, understanding, and hope through their shared experience. The event in Walnut Creek is supported by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and the Contra Costa Crisis Center .
