Dear WW Philadelphia Members,
Don’t mind me, I’m over here eating yet another cup of veggies as I write!
Like many of you, I lost Daily and Weekly Points™ when I switched to the New PersonalPoints™ Program in the middle of September.
My Daily Points were reduced by 8 and the Weeklies went down by 12. Yet, remarkably, I’m finding I have plenty of Points to use every day and still bank extras for the weekend. I am being nudged to eat more vegetables and that can only be a good thing for me.
It’s a game to see if I can add 5-9 Points per day and 2 or more to my Weeklies with activity. Easy peasy. Even after the number of years I have been working the plan, some years on and some years off, being challenged to live life a little healthier is really a good thing for me and most other Members too.
The week before Thanksgiving Studio Workshops can be so much fun. Skilled Coaches and seasoned Members share ideas of success.
My favorite has always been: NO joggers, sweatpants, or any other kind of slacks with elastic waist can be worn on Thanksgiving. We need to know when we start passing the point of comfort and wearing our most comfortable pair of pants isn’t going to help us feel that moment.
My family has a casual early afternoon Thanksgiving Dinner schedule, something like 1:30 or 2 o'clock, so I wear jeans and a nice sweater or blouse, depending upon the weather. Wearing something that fits, allows others to see the results of your weight loss journey. A few positive comments can give you a little more willpower to pass if a second slice of pie is offered.
One thing I have always recommended to Members, and I practice myself is to eat the foods that mean Thanksgiving to you.
There might be some items served that you could have any time, anywhere but there are a few items that are only served once or twice a year. Those are the foods you want to be sure to have on your plate.
Another strategy is to place a little of everything you want on your plate but keep the servings small enough, so they do not touch each other.
The truth be told, Thanksgiving is only one day. Yes, I know there are leftovers but if you make sure the extra sweets and fattier items go home with someone else, there’s plenty of Points left through the rest of the week for turkey and the better choices.
I know I’ve mentioned gratitude and thankfulness in the last few weeks but truly, this is the time to enjoy the family and the friends that are like family. Invite someone home with you that might not have anywhere to go this year.
Be truly thankful for all you have in your life and the possibilities of other good things coming into your life and have a delicious Thanksgiving!
As always, stay well, be kind and wash your hands,
