Three new UConn policies were approved, and three existing policies were revised by the Senior Policy Council and University President in August.

Outlined below is information on the new policies, and changes to existing policies.

The Student Code

The Student Code is administered by the Office of the Vice President for Student Life and Enrollment. It applies to students on all University campuses.

The Code defines expectations for student conduct and the responsibilities that come with being a member of the academic community. It also outlines the process for addressing violations, including the range of potential sanctions that may be imposed. Revisions focused on clarifying roles, responsibilities, and defined terms, as well as refining the student conduct review process. This includes adjustments to the way hearings are conducted, how information is shared with involved parties, and the management of student conduct records.

NEW: The Malign Foreign Talent Program Participation Policy

The Malign Foreign Talent Program Participation Policy is administered by the Office of the Vice President for Research. It applies to faculty, staff, and students engaged in research on any University campus.

This policy safeguards the University’s research and resources from potential risks associated with malign foreign talent programs. The policy prohibits participation in these high-risk programs as they could compromise the University’s research integrity or compliance with U.S. laws.

NEW: Fitness for Duty Policy

The Fitness for Duty Policy is administered by Human Resources. It applies to employees on the Storrs and Regional campuses.

This policy was created to ensure that employees are physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing their job responsibilities effectively and safely. It establishes the University's right to require that employees undergo a fitness for duty evaluation in situations where the employee may not be fit for duty or may present a safety risk to themselves or others.

This policy replaces the Division of Student Affairs' Large, Outdoor, and/or Late Hours Event Policy.
