Knee Replacement at Memorial Regional Health:
Patient Receives All His Care Close to Home
Tom Kleinschnitz, his wife, Denise, and their three dogs.
In early 2022, Tom Kleinschnitz’s right knee was giving him a good bit of trouble. “It was getting really painful just to walk,” he said. “And I routinely walk two and a half miles every day after work.”

For patients like Kleinschnitz, who is Director of Tourism for Moffat County and also serves on the City Council, comprehensive orthopedic care—including many types of orthopedic surgeries—is available right here at MRH.
Women’s Heart Health:
Prevention and Attention Are Keys to Wellness
Cardiovascular disease is the Number 1 health risk to women in the United States. One in three women’s deaths are caused by cardiovascular disease—more than all forms of cancer combined.

“Both men and women seem to be in the dark about the risk factors of heart disease,” said Kelsie Bond, a Memorial Regional Health Physician Assistant specializing in cardiology care. “But there seems to be more light shined on men and heart disease than women and heart disease.”
Upright and Active:
How to Prevent Fall Injuries
As Memorial Regional Health’s Assistant Trauma Coordinator, Megan O’Toole helps care for injured patients. Falls are often the culprit, especially for older folks.

“People fall,” O’Toole said. “And when elderly people fall, they can suffer a head injury or break a hip, after which their health often declines rapidly. So, we’d like to prevent those falls as much as we can.”
MRH Develops New Nurses: New Graduate Training Program Builds Skills and Confidence
“Ideally we want nurses to train and stay here,” said Sarah Moore, an RN and Emergency Department Manager as well as Staff Education Coordinator and Trauma Nurse Coordinator. “So while they’re here, we want them to shine. We want to help educate and train them so they want to continue their employment with MRH.”

Advance Directives, Medical Durable Power of Attorney and Living Wills
Most adults have heard of advance directives, medical power of attorney and living wills, but many of us haven’t checked them off our to-do lists. In fact, according to an analysis of multiple studies published in the last decade, only about a third of us have completed at least one of them.
Living with Diabetes
Sarah Hartman, MRH Registered Dietician, will be hosting a free information class on ways to treat and live with prediabetes and Diabetes Type 1 and 2. Lifestyle habits can make a difference and Sarah will discuss weight management, diet, meal planning and learning what to look for on nutrition labels. Bring your questions!
