Windows 10 fall update STILL has issues...

Windows 10

We told you recently that Microsoft found it's latest big Windows 10 update (1809) had a bug that deleted some users' data.  Well, apparently there is now another flaw!

WHen using the built in ZIP file tool in Windows 10, you can possibly overwrite a file unknowingly and delete ZIP data.

You can learn more by clicking this link:

If you already have the Windows 10 1809 update, avoid using the built-in ZIP tool for now.  Try using a third party tool such as 7-Zip or WinZip instead.  Also, make sure you are backing up your data!

What is... THE CLOUD?

Cloud

By now you've certainly heard of "the cloud" when it comes to computers.  But what exactly IS the cloud?

In reality, the cloud is just a server at another company, connected via the internet.  For instance, you might use Google Drive to store and access files, which is a cloud app.  Those files are stored on a server at Google somehere else in the world, and you are able to access them via the internet.

So why do that instead of keeping the files yourself?  First of all it takes the burden off of you - you don't have to spend money on a server and keeping it up yourself.  Second, it allows you to access your files from anywhere at anytime over the internet.  And third, you don't have to worry about backup as Google does that for you.

What about security?  All reputable cloud companies are going to have state of the art security in place to keep your files safe.  In fact with backups, your data is probably safer in the cloud than on your own computer!
