Hyptertension and Concept 10 10 High Intensity Exercise
Hypertension is a widespread health problem effecting nearly 25% of the adult population in the United States.

The importance of treating this "silent killer" lies in its associated risk to cardiovascular disease, the number one cause of death in America, as well as other maladies. However, hypertension is a modifiable risk factor.

Exercise as a lifestyle modification is beneficial to a wide variety of health conditions. Specific to hypertension, the benefits of exercise have been promoted by a number of organizations and agencies. People who have high blood pressure typically have activation of the "fight or flight" component of their nervous system.

High-intensity training has shown to block the release of hormones like norepinephrine that cause nervous system activity to go into overdrive. Based on these factors, research has concluded high-intensity is more likely to be beneficial for heart health and for preventing hypertension than any other form of exercise.
In memory of Dr. Teresa Sievers
I have only known Dr. Sievers for less than a month.
She recently started her Concept 10 10 training and was thrilled about it. So thrilled that she would recommend it to many of her patients. We agreed that I should supervise her first 6 workouts.

She had an appointment on Monday at 6.45 p.m., and of course, didn't show up as she was killed earlier. I didn't know at that time and called her cell and left a message, and followed up with an email on Tuesday. First Wednesday morning when I saw the newspaper did I know what happened. It is so sad and unreal. She was such a nice person. May she rest in peace.
