Dear Student Affairs Team,

We have now brought the Student Affairs Realignment to a close. We are excited to share several important updates that reflect our commitment to what matters most: supporting student completion, creating clear and consistent navigation, and fostering growth for both students and staff. This work has been long overdue, and each milestone brings us closer to a stronger, more student-ready College and one where the Student Affairs Division will be a major contributor in realizing the North Star and beyond.

Student and Non–Student Facing Functional Structures

As the Student Affairs Realignment concludes, we are proud to welcome additional colleagues into their newly established Regional Director (RD) and District Director (D) roles. These individuals come following the first wave of selections in October and will be instrumental in bringing our new structure to life. These newly appointed leaders bring deep experience, courage, and a shared commitment to supporting our students and employees. Their onboarding throughout November has prepared them to step into cross-department collaboration, and you will begin seeing them actively engage, connect, and guide teams as we solidify our student-ready model.

To learn more about how to engage these leaders—including their regions and contact information—please visit the Regional and District Directors webpage.

Placement Process

We are pleased to share that 100% of employees who were noted as unassigned have now received their final assignment notification, marking an important milestone after months of thoughtful review.

Placements were guided by collegewide and student-centered needs, with careful consideration of each employee’s experience, transferable skills, and qualifications within the redesigned organizational model. Employees whose roles were changing or sunsetting were invited to share their interests through a placement form, and that input played a role in informing final decisions.

Vacancies and Failed Searches

As we continue stabilizing the new organizational model, a small number of non-student-facing functional structures remain in progress, as priority was given to student-facing roles. These remaining non-student-facing positions and postings will be finalized by mid-Spring 2026.

In the coming weeks, you may continue to see vacancies and reposted positions resulting from failed searches. This is a normal part of the transition and ensures each area has the appropriate staffing and expertise to support students effectively.

Our goal is to have any failed searches and/or vacancies completed by the end of February 2026.

Post–Realignment Positions & Salary Protocols

Beginning February 2026, any Student Affairs position posted from that point forward will not be part of the realignment process. This means:

  • These roles will follow standard HR hiring protocols.
  • They will not fall under the realignment’s “no change to salary”.

Staying Informed

Student Affairs Leadership and Human Resources will continue to share updates as placements are finalized and positions are posted. We encourage you to regularly check:

Before the holiday break, we will share more details about the upcoming training and communication to continue informing our division and the rest of the college about the Student Affairs organizational structure. This work will focus on how we will engage, collaborate, and partner across the college, and how our redesigned model supports serving students in clear, consistent, and student-ready ways.

Thank you for your continued partnership, patience, and dedication throughout this journey. The realignment has required tremendous adaptability, and we are deeply grateful for the commitment each of you brings to serving students and strengthening our division.

Sincerely,

Shasta Buchanan, Ed.D
