Leadership Update

Brooke Leonard & Mackenzie Snider

Greetings Concord families,

The Guidance Department has had an exciting start to the year focused on helping our students explore their options, plan for life after graduation, and connect with opportunities for their future!

We kicked off the year with our “Charting Your Future” event, welcoming 25+ colleges and universities to campus.

Students had the opportunity to meet with college representatives, learn about different programs, and begin exploring the many pathways available to them after Concord.

We have also implemented Lunch & Learns, giving college and career programs the opportunity to connect directly with students during the school day. We already have five Lunch & Learns scheduled for the fall!

College visits are another important part of our programming. We have a fall college visit to Lee University scheduled, and we are currently working on a spring college visit to Carson-Newman University for all sophomores.

College visits give students the chance to experience college campuses firsthand and learn more about what life after high school can look like.

In addition to these events, the Guidance Department has been focused on individualized student support. All seniors have met one-on-one with the Guidance Department for post-graduation advising, discussing their goals and plans for life after high school.

We are now beginning the same process with our junior class, helping to ensure students get an early start on planning for their next steps.

It is a joy to partner with students and their families!

Thank You,

Brooke Leonard & Mackenzie Snider

Anticipated Absence Form

With Fall Break and the holidays approaching, we wanted to provide our Anticipated Absence Request Form.

We know family trips and special events sometimes require students to miss school, and completing this form helps everyone stay on the same page. It gives teachers an opportunity to plan ahead while also helping students make arrangements for missed assignments and make-up work.

The process:

  1. Complete and sign the top portion of the form.
  2. Have your student take the form to each of their 5th–8th Grade teachers to discuss missed work and obtain their signatures.
  3. Once all teacher signatures have been collected, have your student return the form to the office/Mrs. Bean so we can obtain the necessary principal signatures.
  4. Once completed, the office will email a copy of the signed form back to you for your records.

*Whenever possible, please submit the form in advance of the planned absence so teachers have adequate time to prepare.

Educational Freedom Scholarship Information

We are an umbrella program registered with the State of Tennessee as a Category IV non-public school and are also a University Model High School. Because of this classification, we cannot accept Educational Freedom Scholarships (EFS)—those are reserved for Category I, II, and III schools. A Category IV umbrella program will never be eligible to use EFS. We are beginning the accreditation process to become a Category II for the Upper Middle school, which will allow us to accept EFS funding in the future. We are NOT eligible at this time.

Sports Eligibility
