Leadership Update

Steven Madonna

Hello CCS families,

The Academy (grades 5–6) and Upper Middle School (grades 7–8) have launched the academic year with incredible momentum.

Teachers have made the most of early-release Wednesdays, utilizing this time for key professional development, collaborative planning, and system training.

On the academic front, students successfully completed their first round of MAP testing. Teachers are currently analyzing the data to tailor instruction for individual student growth, and parents can expect individual score reports shortly after Fall Break.

Our school culture is thriving in significant ways! We officially welcomed over 40 new students during our 3rd Annual House Initiation Ceremony in August, strengthening belonging and leadership across the division.

Kardia House kicked off our house competitions with 5th and 6th graders producing creative Books of the Bible music videos, while 7th and 8th graders faced off in a lively Scripture Trivia Competition.

Looking ahead, we are excited to launch our new Upper Middle School National Beta Club chapter on September 29, honoring academic excellence and service.

Shortly after, students will enjoy a day of fellowship and fun at our annual Fall Field Day on October 2.

Thank you for your continued partnership as we cultivate a strong community together!

Blessings,

Steven Madonna

Academy & Upper Middle School Principal

Anticipated Absence Form

With Fall Break and the holidays approaching, we wanted to provide our Anticipated Absence Request Form.

We know family trips and special events sometimes require students to miss school, and completing this form helps everyone stay on the same page. It gives teachers an opportunity to plan ahead while also helping students make arrangements for missed assignments and make-up work.

The process:

  1. Complete and sign the top portion of the form.
  2. Have your student take the form to each of their 5th–8th Grade teachers to discuss missed work and obtain their signatures.
  3. Once all teacher signatures have been collected, have your student return the form to the office/Mrs. Bean so we can obtain the necessary principal signatures.
  4. Once completed, the office will email a copy of the signed form back to you for your records.

*Whenever possible, please submit the form in advance of the planned absence so teachers have adequate time to prepare.
