Dear Alumni and Friends of Baltimore Lutheran School and Concordia Preparatory School,
Greetings in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
A little over one week ago, we celebrated at the Installation Service of Rev. Pastor Peter Couser as the Campus Pastor of Concordia Prep School and Mission Developer for the new Towson Area Mission. At Concordia Prep he is responsible for campus ministry, weekly chapels, and service-learning activities. He also is in the early stages of developing a new church plant that will gather on Concordia Prep’s campus. This partnership is an innovative initiative to enhance our ministry on campus as well as strengthen the ties with our Lutheran community of worship.
Rev. Dr. John R. Denninger (President of the Southeastern District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod) was presiding minister for this service, with Betty Kansler (President of First Lutheran) and Brent Johnson (Headmaster of Concordia Prep) serving as Lectors. In attendance were 16 clergy from other area churches and members of the First Lutheran Church of Towson. Below is a video from that special day and some photos. Learn more about Pastor Couser here:

So much has happened in a week. Concordia Prep School followed the directives of Gov. Larry Hogan and the Maryland State Department of Education to close the school and campus until
March 27, 2020.
I cannot express the pride I feel for the way our faculty stepped up in this time of crisis to create a virtual learning platform for our students. Members of our Technology Committee met last weekend to enact a plan to create virtual classrooms where our teachers can hold classes in real-time. On Monday and Tuesday, our faculty prepared these classrooms with video conference software and our faculty had to design and modify their lesson plans for this new method of teaching. We held our first full day of classes yesterday. There may be a few bumps in the road, but as educators we cannot let our students fall behind. We hope to provide a measure of normalcy and community as we all navigate this unprecedented crisis.
Pastor Couser has provided peace through his prayers and devotions. He will be sending out a daily devotion available for all of our students, families, alumni, and faculty and staff. Please read the article below from him about how to join our prayer community and listen to today's devotion.
While we have no idea how the rest of the school year will unfold, as of now we plan to hold commencement exercises for the Class of 2020 beginning with Baccalaureate on Friday, May 22. The Class of 1970 is invited to a reunion luncheon on that Friday and will be special guests at graduation on Saturday, May 23. We are having difficulties reaching members of the Class of 1970. If you know someone in that class, please have them contact our Director of Advancement, Mrs. Gloria Murphy at
May God bless you and those you love during this difficult time and always.
