Connecting the Baltimore Lutheran-Concordia Prep Community
September 2019
Dear Alumni and Friends of Baltimore Lutheran School and Concordia Preparatory School,

We are back to school! The bible verse that the Class of 2020 has chosen for this year is: "Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing Honor" —Romans 12:10. The theme for September is to Strive for Excellence. Our messages in Chapel all month have emphasized the struggles we all feel at times in our lives but the need to always strive to share God's gifts to the best of our abilities.

The school year is off to a great start! We welcomed over 370 middle and upper school students back to campus on Monday, August 26. This growth has been led by our tremendous faculty and staff's efforts ensuring the community knows what a special place Concordia Prep School is for the next generation of student-leaders.

Over the summer months, we continued to improve the campus through the Renew and Rejoice campaign. The turf field was replaced and the entire Saints Athletic Field area received a makeover. The PressBox was renovated, a new sound system was installed, landscaping, fences, and walkways were all improved.

We are in the process of finishing the renovations to the Giguere room—formerly the STAR suite with new furniture and a dedicated testing area. The BlackBox Theater renovation is now scheduled to be completed in time for the fall Theatre Department production of Secondary Cause of Murder, November 1-3.

The final phase of the Renew and Rejoice campaign is kicking off this fall with renovations to the LAC including new locker rooms, bathrooms, and sound system. We still need your support to finish this project. Please contact Director of Advancement, Mrs. Gloria Murphy or myself to learn how you get involved.

We are planning a big Homecoming Celebration on Saturday, October 12. The day begins with our Open House for Prospective Families from 10 am to 12 noon, followed by the Varsity Football team taking on Annapolis Area Christian School. We will dedicate the new turf field before the game and at halftime announce our Athletic Hall of Fame and Distinguished Alumni during a ceremony in their honor. After the game, please join the BLS/CPS alumni association for the annual Oktoberfest from 3 to 6 pm.

It's a great time to be a Saint.

May God bless you and those you love.

In Christ
