Connecting the Baltimore Lutheran-Concordia Prep Community
From Headmaster Mr. Brent Johnson

Greeting Saints in the name of our Risen Savior Jesus Christ,

Haul out the holly
Put up the tree before my spirit falls again
Fill up the stocking
I may be rushing things but deck the halls again now
For we need a little Christmas, right this very minute

Our 56th year of ministry at Concordia Preparatory School is off to a great start and it is hard to believe that we are moments away from Christmas break. Our community has so many things to celebrate this year and I could not be prouder of our faculty, staff, and students for the dedication that they have shown in unprecedented circumstances. As I write this note on the darkest day of the year it is easy to feel that all of us need a little Christmas right now. The love, hope, peace, and joy that we have found this Advent season will culminate in the greatest gift of all on Friday, with the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ!

While we are all likely celebrating Christmas a little differently this year, the hope we have in our Savior is unchanged. Whether we gather with family and friends virtually or in person, we celebrate the birth of a Savior who is the Light of the World, our Chief Cornerstone, and our Messiah. May your Christmas season be filled with hope and peace from Jesus!

Merry Christmas,
Brent Johnson

A Prayer for Christmas From Pastor Peter Couser
As you ponder these past months - the challenges, questions, frustrations, griefs...
As you consider your current realities, and even as you look ahead at future uncertainties...
Look to Jesus and rest in His living presence now!
Rest in the living hope that He gives us today!
Live with thankfulness that we live on this side of the Christmas and Easter stories! Recognize the longing in your heart that only He can satisfy and know with certainty that one day He will bring all who believe in Him for salvation to their everlasting Home!

Use the following words as your personal prayer. They are filled with a yearning for Christ’s presence and power in our lives and in our world now. At the same time these words also stoke in our hearts a confidence and joy that in His hands we are released from our fears and sins and we experience true rest in Him!

Come Thou Long Expected Jesus
By Charles Wesley

Come, thou long expected Jesus
Born to set thy people free
From our fears and sins release us
Let us find our rest in thee
Israel's strength and consolation
Hope of all the earth thou art
Dear desire of every nation
Joy of every longing heart
Born thy people to deliver
Born a child and yet a king
Born to reign in us forever
Now thy gracious kingdom bring
By thine own eternal spirit
Rule in all our hearts alone
By thine own sufficient merit
Raise us to thy glorious throne

NewThing will livestream on Christmas Eve at 6:30pm.
We will sing the hymns of Christmas and hear the account of the first Christmas from Luke 2.
Have a candle nearby as we sing Silent Night...

Merry Christmas!

He has come for you! He has come for me! He has come for us!
Rest in Him now.
