August 2024
From Headmaster Brent Johnson

Dear Alumni and Friends of Baltimore Lutheran School and Concordia Preparatory School,

Greetings in the name of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

I hope you are all enjoying the summer and relaxing with your families. The summer is a time for rejuvenation but it has been a bustling stretch on the Concordia Prep campus. In addition to the usual summer prep, we undertook a project to add air conditioning to the gymnasium in the LAC. This project was partly funded from proceeds of the annual Bid for Kids Dinner and Auction and donations by members of our community.

In June, we finished another great school year. On Friday, May 24, we bid farewell to an amazing class of seniors. Their many accomplishments are highlighted below. Last fall, we launched the new Academic Pathways program, which has proven very popular. Thank you to alumni and parents who graciously shared their real-life experiences with students in the program. The Computer Science pathway program will launch this school year. Due to the growth in enrollment over the past several years our academic, art, and athletic programs have grown in participation and success. We have created a "Year in Review" highlighting many of these achievements over the past year: Year in Review

In January we hosted the first Young Alumni Night for alumni still in or just out of college. We also welcomed our 50th-anniversary alumni to be special guests at the commencement exercises for the class of 2024. This year we are planning new events and activities for our alumni. The Saints Golf Tournament makes a return in October. Please review the details below on upcoming events and reunions this year.

I hope to see you on campus for one of our many upcoming events.

Thank you for your prayers and support. May God bless you and those you love now and throughout the year.

In Christ,
Brent Johnson

The Year in Review
The Academic Pathways program is designed to prepare students for careers in advanced mathematics and health sciences. In April, Pathways students toured a variety of medical and science facilities at Aberdeen Proving Ground, including the U.S. Army Medical Research in Chemical Defense lab facilities and the Maryland National Guard 29th Combat Aviation Brigade (MEDEVAC) unit.
Rev. Dr. William Harmon ‘90, President of the Southeastern District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod visited Concordia Prep and spoke to a group of students about ways to serve God through vocations in church work including as pastors, teachers, Christian educators, directors of ministries, deaconesses, directors of Christian outreach, directors of life ministries, and directors of parish music.
