Concordia Prep School will be hosting our final series of Town Halls for our current and new families on Wednesday, August 19, 2020. Our Headmaster, Mr. Johnson, and other members of our Administrative Team will connect, share, and update our families about our final plans concerning the reopening of CPS for the upcoming 20-21 school year. 

The date and time for our final Town Hall will be as follows:
  • Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at 5:30pm
  • Wednesday August 19, 2020 at 7:00pm

2020-2021 Bus Information
Concordia Preparatory School is pleased to announce bus transportation to and from school for the 2020-2021 academic year. There are two routes:
  1. Catonsville Route: The Catonsville bus leaves the Ingleside Shopping Center (5668 Baltimore National Pike) in Catonsville each school day at 6:45 am. It stops at 7405 Liberty Road at approximately 7:00 am and then continues to Concordia Prep. The bus leaves CPS each school day at 3:45 pm and stops at Liberty Road and Catonsville.
  2. Harford County Route: The Harford County bus leaves Harford Mall (696 Belair Road) each school day at 6:40 am. It stops at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School (12022 Jerusalem Road) at approximately 7:00 am and then continues to Concordia Prep. The bus leaves CPS each school day at 3:45 pm and stops at St. Paul’s and Harford Mall.

Payment Options:
  1. Pay the bus service fee for the 2020-2021 school year before the school year begins on August 26, 2020. Parents who choose this option will receive a 5% discount in the yearly cost of the bus.
  2. Pay the bus service fee monthly through the FACTS Tuition Management program.

Cost: The cost of the 2020-2021 bus service is $900.00 for the entire year or $100.00 per month from September 2020 through May 2021. Parents who pay the entire year before August 26, 2020 will pay $855.00 (5% discount). The price of bus transportation has been discounted for the 2020-2021 school year because of the hybrid beginning to the school year.

Boathouse Jackets – On Sale until Wednesday, August 19
Boathouse jackets are currently on sale until Wednesday, August 19. Please visit: https://concordiaprepschool2020.itemorder.com/sale to order your jacket.
 
While the Boathouse jacket is not required, many students enjoy wearing these jackets during the school day, as they are an accepted dress code item.

Attention New Upper School Families
All NEW Upper School families should set up a meeting with our Guidance and College Counselor, Mrs. Kim Grill to discuss courses and schedules for the 2020-2021 school year. She is working remotely. Please schedule an appointment via email at kimgrill@concordiaprepschool.org

Reminder: All students must complete the summer work for their grade level by the start of school. It is important to meet with Mrs. Grill to learn what courses they will be in for the fall semester.

CPS Summer Work for New and Returning Students
To help maintain your skills and to help prepare you for the academic challenges of the 2020-2021 school year, some classes require coursework to take place over the summer months. Areas of study include most Math, English/Language Arts, World Language, and several Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Note: there is a new English course for seniors. News from the PTL
The PTL is holding a virtual raffle for a chance to win an HP Laptop operating on Windows 10 and has a 15.6 LED display. To enter into the drawing click Concordia PTL Device Raffle. You can PayPal your $10.00 per ticket fee to PTL@Concordiaprepschool.org. All entries need to be submitted by 5:00 pm on Thursday, August 13. The winner will be announced on Friday, August 14. Attention New Students

If you have not taken the Math or English placement test, please contact Ms. Carlyn Stefanelli carlynstefanelli@concordiaprepschool.org in the Office of Admissions.

Spanish Placement Test: new students wishing to take higher than Spanish 1 should email Mrs. Sara Welinsky at sarawelinsky@concordiaprepschool.org to receive instructions for the Spanish placement assessment. The test needs to be completed by August 14.

The Admissions Team has put together a New Student Checklist to help families prepare for the 2020-2021 school year. 


Athletic Department News
Fall Sports Tryouts – Please read the joint statement below from the IAAM/MIAA. You may contact Director of Athletics, Mrs. Fredrica Newman, with any questions: fredricanewman@concordiaprepschool.org.

In an ongoing effort to mitigate health risks while supporting student-athletes, the IAAM and MIAA will be delaying the start of the Fall Preseason until on or after Tuesday, September 1, 2020.

At this time, we anticipate that league play will commence on or after September 21, 2020. Revised schedules will be issued to keep within the projected timeline for fall athletics. 

School Uniforms
Reminder: All students are expected to be in uniform on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 26, 2020.

Please be reminded that Lands’ End is the sole provider of school uniform bottoms, shirts, and sweaters. All of these uniform pieces must be purchased through Lands’ End. The preferred school code is 900101890. From the School Nurse
Parents remember if your child takes medication at school, to have their physician complete the Medication Administration form for next school year. Also, if you want your child to be able to receive over the counter medications, please complete the Over the Counter Medication form and have their physician sign it as well. These forms are available on the website under Parents, Middle School or Upper School and then Forms and Publications or use these links. The forms are also posted on a Resource Board via OnCampus.

Your student needs a new sports physical every year so please plan on getting that done over the summer so your student will be cleared to participate in PE and sports. The Preparticipation Physical
Examination form is on the website or through this link.

7th grade parents: The nurse will be notifying you If your child is entering 7 th grade and they have not yet received their Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) and Meningitis vaccines.
