From the School Nurse
IMPORTANT-Symptoms of illness – I need you to notify me if your student has any symptoms of illness if they are tested for COVID-19, if they have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, or if someone in your household has tested positive for COVID-19. It is critical I receive this information as soon as possible in order to notify possible close contacts or exposures. As a school, we are required to notify the Baltimore County Health Department when we have a positive case of COVID-19 in our school community.
Please be aware that often COVID-19 symptoms start as a runny nose, sinus congestion, or sore throat and people often mistake the symptoms as a cold or allergies. Keep your student home if they have any of these symptoms. Also if your student takes daily allergy medications, they should be taking them now to control their allergy symptoms.
Please complete the Parent Locker app each day your student is coming to campus. We are trusting your honesty and integrity to allow our community to remain healthy and our students to continue to be able to be on campus.
IMPORTANT TRAVEL POLICY – We have received information from the Baltimore County Health Department recommending at this time that schools continue to require members of the school community to be tested when they return from out-of-state travel and quarantine until their test results are received. If you travel out of state, you should get a COVID-19 PCR test between 3 to 5 days from when you return to Maryland and you should quarantine until you get the test results. It should be a PCR test, not a rapid test. You should forward the test results to the school nurse who will notify you if you can return to campus.
This recommendation applies to people that have been fully vaccinated as well. However, this does not apply if you have had COVID-19 within the 90 days prior to your travel.
