Bible Verse for 2022-2023: When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. – Isaiah 43:2
From Headmaster Mr. Brent Johnson

Dear Concordia Prep Parents and Guardians,

Happy New Year!

It has been a wonderful summer at Concordia Prep as we have prepared for the start of a new school year. Our school theme this year selected by our senior class is Isaiah 43:2, which reads,

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.

We will focus on this theme in Chapel, advisory periods, and devotions as we work to strengthen our community and grow in our faith and service to others.

I pray that all of you have had the chance to relax and unwind with your families and friends. Over the summer months, we have worked to clean, paint, repair, and update all areas of the campus. The Music Room received a much-needed makeover with new paint and carpet. Thank you for the generous donations from our Bid for Kids Auction last spring we were able to purchase new music stands and equipment. We have many blessings to count as we enter this year. Next Monday, August 22, we will welcome all of our new students and their families to campus for a New Student Orientation. All the details are shared below.

On Wednesday, August 24 we are thrilled to welcome all students for the first day of school. We will begin the first day of school with an assembly and opening chapel will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.

Thank you for your prayers and continued support. We are looking forward to a great year.

In Christ,

Brent Johnson

Update from the Nurse
Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! As the virus that causes COVID 19 continues to evolve, I want to share some information from the July 22,2022, guidance for schools from the Maryland Department of Health and the State Department of Education.

Any member of the school community who has symptoms of an infectious illness should not attend school. The person should notify the school and the school nurse if they have a reportable infectious illness such as COVID-19, influenza(flu), other respiratory viruses (like RSV) or GI infections.

A student who becomes ill at school should be picked up within an hour of when the parent/guardian is notified. Please be sure your child’s emergency contact is up to date with the school.

Students with symptoms of COVID-19 should be tested either with a rapid antigen at home test or a PCR test. If a student tests positive for COVID-19 the parent/guardian should notify the school nurse and also the student’s close contacts. The school is no longer doing contact tracing unless an outbreak occurs.

We are required to report cases of communicable diseases including COVID-19 to the Baltimore County Health Department.
Masks are no longer required to be worn in school except in the following circumstances:
  • If a student had COVID-19 and they have completed their 5 days of isolation, have no symptoms or symptoms are improved and they have no fever for 24 hours without medication, they may return to school on Day 6 and wear a well- fitting mask for 5 additional days (day 6 through day 10). Day 0 is the day the student develops symptoms or tests positive for COVID-19.
  • If a student is a close contact to someone who tests positive for COVID-19, regardless of their vaccination status, they can attend school as long as they have no symptoms. They must wear a well-fitting mask at school for 10 days after the last exposure to the person with COVID-19 (Day 0 is the last day of exposure).
Masks will not be provided by the school unless a student becomes ill at school or needs to wear a mask for one of the above situations.

Students may choose to wear a mask as a personal preference, but in those cases the school will not provide replacement masks if the student’s mask breaks or becomes soiled. Students should keep their own supply of masks.

The school’s mask policy is subject to change if the Baltimore County Health Department changes their recommendations based on community transmission levels of COVID-19. If an outbreak were to occur at school, other control measures may also be implemented.

Please see the attached Appendix A: MDH/MSDE Guidance for COVID-19 Symptoms, Isolation and Quarantine for a summary of the guidelines for management of COVID-19.
