Dear TIOH Community,

It is with great sadness that we inform you that Alan Pearlstein passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 29, 2024, in Los Angeles at the age of 88.

Alan is survived by his wife Sally, his children Alex (Lynzee) and Elise (Jory), and his four grandchildren Stella, Theo, Everly, and Mateo. Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Shirley, and brother, Lawrence.

Alan was born September 1, 1935, in Los Angeles, California. As a native Angelino, Alan told amazing stories about riding the Red Car trolley from his home in Silver Lake to downtown Grand Central Market or Santa Monica for a beach day. He proudly sold Coca-Cola in the aisles of the Los Angeles Coliseum during the Dodgers' first year in Los Angeles after moving from Brooklyn. The Dodgers were Alan's true sporting passion (and occasional torture) throughout his adult life. Still, he was an avid fan of many teams, especially the Los Angeles Rams, UCLA basketball, and USC football. Alan was a successful small business owner, helping clients for decades as a life insurance salesman and financial planner.

Alan took his greatest professional pride in helping families through the challenging experience of losing a loved one and managing the complicated process of accessing their benefits. He retired just over a year ago.

When asked to describe Alan, friends and family said he was a good, honorable, trustworthy man with values that demanded the most from himself and others. He was a man who showed love through actions more than words, but there was never a doubt about how he felt about those closest to him. He was a devoted husband to his wife Sally of almost 60 years and a proud father of his two children, Alex and Elise, bragging about their accomplishments whenever possible. In lieu of flowers, Alan's family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
