Habersham County would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, faculty and staff of Dr. Mark Ivester. 
Dr. Ivester served as the President of North Georgia Technical College beginning in 2016. Dr. Ivester was the 6th President in NGTC's 76-year history and served as a member of the executive team of NGTC for 17 years.

Ivester worked closely with Habersham County to build sustaining partnerships between the local community and North Georgia Technical College. 

"He was an incredibly likable leader," said Habersham County Manager Phil Sutton. “Dr. Ivester will be greatly missed in Habersham County and we will keep his family in our thoughts."  

Dr. Ivester is remembered most for his welcoming personality and focused positive visioning for North Georgia Technical College and Northeast Georgia.  

"On behalf of the entire Habersham County Board of Commissioners, let me express my deepest heartfelt sympathies in the passing of Dr. Mark Ivester,"said Chairman Stacy Hall. "Dr. Ivester was a great man that invested his life into helping others. He made a profound difference not only on the campus of NGTC, but also throughout our community. He will certainly be missed. "

Dr. Ivester was a resident of Toccoa. Arrangements for Dr. Mark Ivester have yet to be announced.

Dr. Ivester leaves his loving wife Eleanor of 33 years, 4 children and 2 grandchildren. He also leaves many co-workers and countless students impacted by his good works.
