Our Counseling Department has planned a Virtual Town Hall for 10th Grade male Curie students of color and their parents. The Virtual Town Hall will be an information session for interested and recommended male students and their parents to learn and ask questions about "The Fellowship Initiative (TFI)" program. Please use this link to recommend 10th-grade male Curie students of color

Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 4pm.  

The Fellowship Initiative (TFI) is a partnership between Youth Guidance and JPMorgan Chase designed to expand economic opportunities for young men of color. We are building a diverse community that develops a pipeline of young men of color, from across Chicago, who excel academically, graduate high school, persist in college and are equipped to lead change in their communities. This program is designed to support fellows in expanding the skills, knowledge, experience, networks, and other resources they need to succeed academically and professionally.
Advanced Placement Testing May 3-19th
HS Credit Recovery classes will start on July 5th and end on August 6, 2021. Classes will be held Monday - Friday. Classes will run from 9:00 am - 11:30 am. Both semester 1 and 2 content can be taught in each class. 
Counselors will register students once the application is available for registration. 

Las clases de recuperación de crédito de HS comenzarán el 5 de julio y finalizarán el 6 de agosto de 2021. Las clases se llevarán a cabo de lunes a viernes. Las clases serán de 9:00 am a 11:30 am. Curie Dance Alum on HBO Series
Curie Dance Alumnus Stanley Glover will be featured on Season 2 of HBO Max's series Legendary. The show premieres on May 6. Congratulations, Stanley and Dance teacher Ms. Wilson! We are so proud of you!
Congrats to Curie Wrestling coach and security Yahya Muhammad on his induction to the Chicago Falcons Semi Pro Football Hall of Fame!
Dannell Patton is a member of the Curie HS Class of 2022. She entered a competition with NTID and her idea won an award! We are so proud of her accomplishment!

The National Technical Institute for the Deaf is one of the nine colleges of Rochester Institute of Technology and is home to the world’s first and largest technological college for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

Dream High Workshop Series
 It is with great enthusiasm that The Office of School Counseling & Postsecondary Advising (OSCPA) & The Office of Language and Cultural Education (OLCE) present the Dream High Workshop Series for Chicago Public School’s high school seniors (who are not eligible for FAFSA or who are undocumented).
 
The Dream High Workshop Series aims at providing holistic support to help undocumented students achieve their postsecondary goals.

CPS is now offering instrument and voice-specific clinics for the 20-21 school year! The clinics will encourage students to play individually at home, meet other musicians from across the city, and receive instrument-specific information live in Google Meets.
The participating colleges and organizations are as follows: Jazz Institute of Chicago, Northeastern Illinois University, the University of Illinois at Chicago, Northern Illinois University, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and the Chicago Symphony Chorus.
There are six different session dates and over 25 clinics specific to ensemble type, instrument, vocal part, and other musical areas of interest (conducting, jazz, etc.) for FREE for you and your students. These clinics are available for students in grades 4-12 from ANY CPS school (elementary, charter, high school, contract, options). The clinicians are aware of the wide range of ability levels across CPS. They will make the session applicable to any group.

Free Tax Assistance now available through May 17, 2021. Please note that the IRS tax deadline is May 17, 2021. Please also note that if the Federal and State governments owe you a refund, there is no penalty for filing after the May 17 deadline.

The City of Chicago is committed to ensuring that hardworking Chicagoans can access free tax services to file their returns and claim their tax refunds. The City of Chicago works with its nonprofit partner, Ladder Up, to offer free tax help throughout the tax season and at various points in the off-season. Please note that Ladder Up is now operating Drop-off Tax Services only and will require everyone to have an appointment before entering a location.

All Chicagoans 16 years and older are eligible to received the COVID-19 vaccination.
Vaccination Opportunities for Students and Families
 
All COVID-19 vaccines are offered at no-cost to everyone, regardless of insurance and immigration status. Insurance and government-issued ID are NOT required.
Pfizer vaccine appointments are available for 16+ at UIC Credit One Arena. Parents/legal guardians must accompany minors 16-17 years old, but consent can be obtained by phone. Schedule at vaccine.uihealth.care or at 833-536-9829.


Pfizer vaccine appointments are available at multiple city sites. Anyone 16-17-years-old may book an appointment, but a parent or legal guardian must be present at the appointment. Appointments can be scheduled at zocdoc.com/vaccine or by calling 312-746-4835. Appointments are strongly preferred, but not required.

Kelly HS will be a vaccination site every Wednesday. Kelly has generously extended this opportunity to Curie's staff, parents, and community. Here is the link to schedule an appointment. The link has appointment for the next four weeks.
